Kiwi review of the GT Sport model (same as the Australian 3.3 GT, with the 'down under' specified suspension):

Culture shock: is the new Kia Stinger GT a world beater?

Interestingly, the reviewer comments negatively about the ride quality:

"...The suspension, meanwhile, is a bit firm across the board. In Sport mode, it gives the Stinger a brittle, at times crashy, ride. It vastly improves when switched to Comfort mode, but still feels firm and busy when compared to the German opposition."

This seems quite a different take to reviews from other parts of the world, so I'm guessing the Australian/NZ market models have quite a different suspension tuning. Any thoughts?

I don't know a lot about him, but Mathew Hansen is an established staff motoring writer for the NZ Herald, NZ's biggest newspaper, and his articles cover a wide range of reviews, and through to motorsport.

I've watched one Australian review that basically alluded to the same thing; the 3.3GT with the adaptive suspension had a firmer and less satisfying ride than the 2.0 with fixed suspension.

He is a kiwi, there is long standing joke that some Aussies have about kiwis as is the case the kiwis about the Aussies especially when it comes to cricket! Call it a mutual respect. I don’t know much about the writer but many of them are self proclaimed experts. We take it with a grain of salt, obviously if you read into these reviews you can tell if the person is talking out of their bum or not! The review seems ok.

The review wasn’t bad in my opinion but I have always seen videos that suspensions have to be tuned differently for Australian roads, not sure what type of tuning they do for particular countries but the US Stinger’s ride is firm and comfortable. Sportier sedans have a harder ride.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
