creaking from steering wheel column

Same here, usually when its cold and in mornings. Dealer could not replicate so they didnt do anything. I'd prefer to fix/lubricate myself if anyone knows the exact cause?
Just reach in with the red schnozzle on a can of dry silicone spray and give it the works. (I kid :D; but only sort of: if there was a really bad grinding, scritching-scratching sound, I might do it anyway; what have you got to lose? It just might work.)

Anyone ever experience a kind of creaking sound from your steering wheel column? It's a very weird sound, my car only makes it in the mornings during the first few turns. I can't replicate the sound anywhere on the column by pressing on it or the wheel so I'm thinking it may be internal? Can't for the life of me think what could be causing it, I'm about to take the sucker apart and see if I can figure out what it is.
Hello Doel, I have 2018 AWD GT2 and Steering wheel makes squeaky noise when turning left and right for the first some time of driving. After the temperature of the car or the weather goes up, the noise disappears. I brought it into Kia dealership but the technician couldn't duplicate the issue (because it was a hot day and I already drove 20 minutes to the dealership) so they didn't do anything about it. Was your issue fixed? Could you keep us updated please? Thank you!

If it's a slight scraping/groaning sound when you turn the wheel, it might be the clock spring:

I experienced this on at least two different cars, and in both cases, the scraping sound would happen at a specific steering wheel angle, with a slightly different sound depending on which direction the wheel was turning.

On European cars, this is a singular replacement item and generally does not involve replacing a lot of components.

I recently got the same light creaking noise too when steering, mostly in the mornings. Any Canadian guys have the same issue? If so, any help or insights from your stealerships?

Good news is the dealer fixed the issue, bad news is it came back 4 months later. I'm going to pull the wheel myself and see where the rub is happening when I have the time. I'll try to take pics if I can find the culprit.

Hi, anyone else experience this? Usually when I am stopped, or just getting going, and am turning the wheel. Like if I was parallel parking, or turing the wheel to get ready to leave. I often get what sounds like a rubbing/grinding/scraping noise from the left front. It is a short, 'quick' noise, like something adjusted and reset. The tire is not rubbing on anything, had it looked over. It does not do this at higher speeds (yet).

Making me worried my steering assembly is a mess or something. It is not the normal CV joint clicking sound.
I've been experiencing the same issue for two to three years. The dealership has a hard time replicating the issue but they did once and say it is actually the rear control arms that is reverberating around to sound like the front. They also drove a 2022 GT2 and said the could replicate the issue with the brand new car, So this is not a warranty issue. I don't know if I totally agree and was thinking it is the driver side front strut mount but further investigation will be needed. So it sounds like contacting Kia will be the next step as this is unacceptable for a 4-year-old car and also a new car. @kiausa
