I have a 2018 GT2, I was going to change the filter and fluid, however, I saw a video where someone bought a filter and it wound up being the wrong one. Apparently, there is a version with a single filter pick up, and a version with two filter pick ups. I bought the version with the single pick up, not knowing that there was another version. As far as I can tell, there is no way to know which version you have or need until the pan is off. I don't want to drop the pan and fluid while having to wait for another filter if I need it, so I was hoping someone here could shed some light on this?

I think we watched the same video. But I watched it after i replaced it. That freaked me out, and had to remove it again, because I wasn't sure which one I got. Yes, make sure it has 2 pick up tubes from the filter.

I'd say your best bet is to look up on any of the online OEM parts suppliers' microfiche listing. Go with the Kia part number listed for your specific model and year.

mine had one pickup tube, which matched the factory pan when I dropped it
it is however a 22 so maybe it has changed?

Wow. That's totally confusing. My factory one had 2 tubes. Maybe it doesn't even matter?

That might be. The same part number apparently works for all model years and all 3 engines. 45280-47400 - Transmission Oil Pan 2018-2023 Kia | Kia.Parts Store

I bought one off ebay that is this exact P/N and it has 2 tubes, but the graphics shown in the above site looks like it has only 1. I'm guessing the larger tube is the ONLY pickup tube. The other smaller one is probably the vent. Kia probably just decided it wasn't necessary to vent down into the filter cavity, so just eliminated it. Dunno.

Shit. If that's correct, I guess, I wasted 5 quarts of transmission oil.
