3.3TT Correct Dyno results (Racechip GTS Map 7 compared to JB4 map2)

a
A fair sentiment I don't see too often.

I've been researching RaceChip because I'd like something that's easy to remove when having service work done, and I couldn't help but notice every time someone posts about RC, at least 2 or 3 JB4 fanboys will jump on the thread and crap all over it. This is the first time I've come across a direct performance comparison between RC and JB4, and it pretty much confirms the RC reviews out there for our platform (I say "our" but technically I own a G70.) Just surprised after seeing clear documentation that RC gives you the same performance for way less money as JB4 on 93, that no one jumped in to crap on your post.

Although I am currently leaning toward an ECU tune as it seems as easy to swap an ECU as it is take out the RC, I want to thank you for providing data I haven't come across before. Certainly removes doubts about missing performance if all I plan to do is gap spark plugs and run on 93 octane.
Are you able to pair an ecu tune with the race chip?

No, that would definitely mess things up. Some people use the JB4 (another piggyback) paired with ECU tunes, but those tunes are designed for both to function together. Pairing any piggyback with a Lap3 tune will cause the tune to not function properly.

How much gains you think I would see with a 1.5 ecu tune then ? No tcu tune 93 octane inly

You'll probably see around 400-425whp on a dynojet when using 93 pump gas

im at 371 right now. FBO no tunes nothing. i recently added a racechip and never dynod it yet but i was 371 before the racechip. so you think with lap3 id still only be around 400-420? idk if i can spend almost 1800 on a lap3 ecu for 50 whp

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I will say the Lap3 drives light years better than the RC. The ECU drives like the car came from factory with the extra power. Much smoother power delivery.

You're paying for an extra ECU so you still keep the factory computer and refinement.

What do you think 0-60 times will be with the ecu?

Lol depends, I'm RWD so I won't hook. The best 0-60 I did was 3.8 with some wheel spin. If you're AWD, you can probably do mid 3s or crack into low 3s. The AWD diffs are weaker so be careful with back to back launches

im rwd aswell. So you think a lap3 1.5 ecu tune would get me 3.8-4seconds 0-60?

Oh yeah. Launch control isn't too useful due to the extra torque so I launch a 2nd gear. It takes some practice but I drive the car 100% in manual mode

I recently installed a RC, mostly because it was on sale and just to see how it was compared to JB4, and ECU tunes that I've had previously. The ECU tunes were of course more powerful, but I'm actually finding the RC on the Sport Map (5) is very well suited for the chassis and really smooth. It's definitely better than I thought it would be and the fact that it's just plug N play is great.

Glad you enjoy it. The Racechip gets a lot of unnecessary hate. The company never touts it as a most powerful piggyback also the Racechip company develops piggybacks for VW, Audi, BMW, and Porsche so it's not like they're making trash

Yeah, it does get hate for no reason... The Racechip seems to somehow integrate into the car better than when I had a JB4. By that, I mean there is no perceivable delay or feeling that the ECU was translating the new boost signal.. hard to explain. I'm not sure if that's related to it having a faster processor or the cam sensor or a combination?

Good question. Racechip often states how good their hardware is. I sent my Dyno results to Racechip back in 2022. Of course they aren't going to share any trade secrets but I attached their response.
