So I purchased my 2018 GT2 knowing full well the previous owner had a cooling issue. It was such low mileage that I figured it was still worth it at the price, but now the issue is starting to manifest just in a couple of days. I realized that there is a sloshing noise coming from the front of the car while driving, which would indicate an air bubble in the coolant. I put the heat all the way on high, and sure enough there was heat...until I were to come to a stop then eventually it would blow ice cold until I were to move again (I don't keep the engine shut off feature at stop on, so whenever the engine was at a mere idle it wasn't enough to get coolant to the heater core). Sure enough I get around to checking the reservoir and its empty.

Should my course of action here be to just fill the reservoir with 50/50 coolant, leave the radiator cap open as the engine idles up to operating temp and hopefully the air bubble gets burped out? What more catastrophic issues could be at hand, considering whenever I drive this car the engine temps never go above half so it doesn't seem like its overheating?

Hey again FF.Aaron. Now I am not a mechanic. But I had my coolant replaced in my Jeep Cherokee just recently and on checking it on several occasions noticed the coolant reservior was almost empty. No leaks in the system. Took it back to the shop and they said it was just an air bubble that had burst causing the extra coolant into the engine. Appears a normal thing. I would just fill up the reservior with the relevant coolant and see how you go. Otherwise take it to the dealer.

Fill up the reservoir first. If you are still having an issue may be something to speak with your local dealer about.

Since the car is still in warranty. Don't do any of that. Drop it off at a dealer, let them fix it for free.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up just filling up the reservoir just so I could be sure I could make it to the dealer (which has no availabilities untill next Friday ). But now someone is telling me I filled it with the wrong coolant? I used the Peak Green Extended Life which is what the person at the counter looked up and said was compatible, and I diddnt question it because I thought I saw green residue in the resevior when I checked. But Im now told I shouldve filled it with yellow coolant?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Different color antifreeze? I thought it was just radiator stuff. Now you're telling me that I have to get the "right" kind? (Haven't had to concern myself about it: but I like to know ahead of time.)
