As the RWD variant is only available in AUS, is it possible to convert to an AWD system given enough time at the mechanics and money? I reeeeaally love this car but I hate the idea of it being only RWD. I love being able to take off quickly and the RWD (form what i've seen) after its been tuned just spins way too much.

With enough money, you can convert it into space shuttle. But realistically, it probably will be cheaper to import awd one. Conversion will be stupid expensive.

Was asked recently, also by someone from Australia. https://stingerforum.org/threads/drivetrain-swap-rwd-awd.28383/
Long story short, it would take a lot of work and money, and it would most likely not be feasible since the location of the AWD transfer case is located on the right side and would require changing the footwell on your driver side.

Even if you are able to convert all the mechanical bits to AWD, you'll still need to change all the necessary electronics systems (ECU, ABS, tec.) to the AWD versions, which are no doubt different than RWD.

Besides, AWD might be better at static launch and under compromised traction conditions, it doesn't solve all ills and actually introduces quirks that affect handling.

So are we saying around 20-30k cost wise? Plus an ugly box on the drivers side

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

All AWD Kia stingers are left hand drive due to transfer case so I don’t think I’d want to drive on the left hand side in Australia only option is to make a fully custom build.

You can't import a left hand drive vehicle to Australia to drive on the road unless it is more than 25 years old and forms a part of a historical register, be part of a car club permit system etc. If Kia thought it wise they would have imported an AWD version. The roads here aren't covered in snow.

It is yet to be proven that an AWD vehicle has any added usefulness whatsoever. The majority are SUVs that have road use only, only work sometimes in AWD, and are a considerable waste of money here for the majority of buyers.

4WD, selectable. off road use. Yes. AWD. No.

As for the Stinger Conversion. Your best bet would be to import a left hand drive AWD and spend a good proportion of its cost again converting it like the dills at GM do for LHD Corvettes stupid stupid stupid whilst Ford manufacture RHD Mustangs at half the price

Yeah. Didn't think about that. So, basically this conversion idea is just unrealistic.

You don’t buy a Kia stinger to go off road only reason I want AWD is because I plan to mod the car and increase its HP. RWD already spins in stock launch control… you spin in place after mods AWD Kia stinger is BEAST after mods because it digs and can put all the power to the pavement without spinning thanks to all four wheels distributing the power (even though it is rear biased AWD which is even more beast)

I’m talking about speed from 0 - whatever for context.

If you just want to get away from the lights faster than everyone else you would be better putting your money into an AWD electric and be at 100kmh in 3 seconds like the grannies are at the moment.
