Console heating up

Has anyone had a problem with heat building up in the console? On a recent 3 hour trip I noticed that some candy bars in the cup holder had melted and my drink was hot. When I got home I used the laser temperature gun to check. The phone charger was 114 degrees and one item in the console was 104 degrees. Cup holders where at 94 degrees. Any ideas?

Check your rear vents to make sure that they are not on HOT, and closed.

Yep, rear vents the likely problem.

I had the same issue when I first bought the car, then realized rear vents were on full heat and closed, so my center column turned into an oven.

Thanks. Took it to the dealer yesterday and had them all stumped. After I dropped it off I got the first post so then I called the tech to tell him and I think it made his day. He took off and called me later to say it looked promising and could he keep it overnight. I said sure. So we shall see.
