considering spoiler, leaning more towards just a black stripe

I like the general look of the black spoilers, but in all the pictures I've seen the spoilers look like they stick out about 5 inches... which is about 2-3 inches too long for my taste.
Are there any really short spoilers?

This has got me thinking maybe I'd be better off just getting a 1 1/2 - 2 inch tall black stripe, and placing that along the length of the trunk lip.
Has anybody done this?

Spoiler King has a couple different designs that you may like. they tend to stick up and not Back.

Nice, I like the 284GC. It's unpainted and "made from high quality polyurethane material". If I don't paint it, will it look like garbage in 2 years from the weather, or unpainted is fine if I'm OK with the look?

Not exactly. polyurethane is very good at taking a beating and not showing wear. It does not need to be painted. and for any reason down the line you want to paint it its as easy as sanding it, priming it flat and then painting.
Just note that spoilerking spoilers come straight so you will need to heat it a bit, curve it to fit your trunk angle and then use the 3m Tape to Secure it down. It will line up pretty easily but its important you heat it so its easily shaped.
