Hello Fellow Stingers! I was stung a couple days ago and the last 48 hours have been incredible. There's only one exception..

Today I backed into a gravel patch which I have parked my Optima at for apx. 6 months with no issues. This time however when I came back out to the car I had a flat. Not thinking much of it, I changed to the spare and took it into the dealership expecting a plug. After inspection they found that the interior wall of the tire had a blow out just above the rim and an indentation on the tread directly above. The dealer is asking that I pay for the tire out of pocket because it was an "impact" that caused the issue and are implying I actually hit a pot hole which I haven't.

My question is- do you believe I can fight this with the position of the tire being compromised? It has all of 200 miles on it.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

On your own.

Tires don’t just blow out unless compromised by puncture, wear, etc.

Whether you remember/think you never had such event doesn’t matter.

Just go to discount tire and get a replacement. They sometimes will hook me up with manufactures warranty when possible (both for excessive wear and / or damage) and discount the new tire(s).

Up to you at that point if you want tire “puncture/damage” coverage.

I would never buy up to you.

Do you have photos of the area they're claiming the damage occurred (not inside the tyre, outside)?

You may not have much of a leg to stand on, but what they're saying is external damage, I'd possibly want an independent view on.

Howdy.
Bummer.
Must have happened before you took delivery. A "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" ferry driver. But you're stuck with it.

You guys (mods) are a funny lot. And you have a job that nobody appreciates.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thank you for your comments!

Update- after a conversation with GM and service manager the best I got was their cost which was somewhere around $280. Then reached out to a couple other shops and was able to get down to $275. But....
The best part came when I finally spoke to the sales manager I purchased from and her directed me to KIA Consumer Services and within 5 minutes they told me they would reimburse all they needed was the invoice! +1 for KIA's support.

Also, I didn't realize the 2.0 was for the engine.. 3.3 it is, and here she is-
