Collision Repair Wait Time

Hello to all the Stinger owners out there. I wanted to share an experience I am having, so all of you can be prepared for the wait that can happen if your Stinger gets damaged. For me, I have a Stinger GT and was stopped at a stop sign less than a mile from my house. An elderly lady didn’t see me, and hit the front of the car at about 25mph- Nobody was hurt fortunately and accidents do happen- sucks but it happens. That’s not the reason for this post…I have been waiting 5 months for repairs to be completed and the delay is from 4 main parts: 1)Front passenger apron, 2)Wheel hub assembly, 3)Radiator support, and 4)Headlight housing. The apron is the worst of the group, but also finding a shop to repair it was a challenge. I am fortunate they did not total the vehicle, but it is frustrating the vehicle is still not complete. The shop said it could be another 2-3 weeks to complete the apron and other repairs, due to the welding and other details involved with the apron. I only share this as you can see the damage was not significant, but unfortunately hit the areas with very hard to source parts. Not sure if anyone else has experienced similar issues, but wanted to share. Be safe out there!

bummer! I know it can take quite a while to get parts and internal damage means longer repair time. you'll be brand new again, hopefully soon now. there is no way that a 25 mph impact will total a stinger but it sure can mess it up.

So sad to hear.
How did the lady hit you in the front while you were stopped, was she on the wrong side of the road?

I see so many drivers that shouldn't be driving!
Amen! I have 182,000 miles on my 2019, and it’s every day I see it. I travel for work and it’s crazy I get hit a mile from my house, but those are the statistics where most accidents happen.

That's because everywhere we come/go generally covers those same few miles nearest to our homes before our path starts to diverge in the direction of the other places we might travel. It's kinda a dumb / click bait kind of stat because it's like saying "most breathing occurs where there's pockets of oxygen".

I had a repair done recently, they couldn't source the rear passenger door locally so they had to order one through the dealer. Fortunately only took a few weeks.

My repair took 3 months, mostly waiting on parts.

Interesting. My wife hit my front bumper with her car and knocked out my driver's headlight to boot. I took it to a shop that was recommended by my peers. The guy replaced my front bumper, painted it, and replaced the headlight in 4 days. Mind you, one of those days was waiting for the part to arrive from Oklahoma. Great experience for me. I have heard nightmare stories of people waiting months for their parts to be replaced, and honestly a front bumper and headlight are pretty straight forward. I would imagine more critical components to the engine or frame would take longer.

That was a pretty unpleasant conversation I can imagine Great it went so quick for you and you’re still married.

That is almost the same thing that happened to me. In my case, the guy took too wide a turn and nailed me at a stop light.

My car has been in the shop since March 27, and it should be done shortly. However the parts were mostly ordered Mar 7 when I had the first inspection. 2nd inspection found a few more things damaged and thus the extra wait.

You can spin statistics any way you want to try and prove a point. Like they say that traffic related fatalities have increased say 2% in the last year or whatever interval they want to choose. What they don't say is that the number of total miles driven during that time increased by 5%, so the REAL statistic should be number of traffic related fatalities/miles driven which has actually decreased, which is more meaningful. However, the first way of expressing it is good for politicians or insurance companies who have their own agenda in mind.
