Trying to differentiate between the normal creak/rattle our sunroofed cars have and what I am currently experiencing, see if anyone else has it/fixed it. Just as the title says, when I go over bumps, specifically the rear tires, there is a clunking thud-type noise that seems to come from the roof. It seems to happen most when the sunroof is in the 'tilt' position. Tried looking around at everything, but I am not a mechanic. Just wondering if any other experiences here that might help. Again, it is not the normal creak/rattle...I have had that as well. This is different.

One other thing...sometimes when turning the wheel, I hear a sort of grind/rubbing noise from left side of car. Any ideas on that one? Not all the time, just randomly. Almost like the tire is hitting something.

Thanks

Are you sure its not the trunk thunk?
Have you tried with the roof open from (either inside or out of the car) see if you can move it up by hand any amount . Just to see if you can mimic the noise.

HI, thanks, yes, dealt with trunk issue early on as well. This is different, right overhead. Could not get any play in sunroof. I hate these issues where everything is hidden away.

Hi I have a 2021 gt limited with 14000 or so km and mine does exact same thing.Dam annoying .really don't know how it happens only when tilt and when you opened roof just a little..but when fully open it doesn't do it.

Yes, so I have tested this more and more and I definitely have it happening in tilt mode. Which I would think then means that the roof is bouncing, but when I have my hand on it, it does not seem to be. I then tested other things, and found that if I have my hand on the plastic track above my head on driver's side (lhd), it goes away. Again, thought, I do not feel anything 'bouncing' at all when I do it. Could be something inside the track too..I usually put my fingertips over the track, to touch the inside of the track. I just cannot figure out what it is or how to fix it. I want to just put some sort of liner/cushion in the track to see if that fixes it, but that would not be a permanent solution as it would interfere with the sunroof sliding.

Give what I said a try, just reach up and put your hand over the plastic track, maybe use fingertips to hold down metal pieces inside the track and see what happens over bumps where you know it happens. Interested to know if you see it go away too. Might need a couple of tries to find the right spot where it stops. I reach up with my right arm.
