In 24 hours I’m sending my Stinger in to get a car bra installed cover the whole front end, bonnet and up to the front doors with a product called Bodyfence by HEXIS. Does anyone have any reservations at all with doing this or should I happily proceed?

Cheers.

Hi there @Sime , wrapping your front end of your Stinger is the best way to go, PPF prevents stone chips, where Ceramic Coating doesn't so much at all, the only research you should do is in the brand of PPF , but if your already happy with that, PPF is the best way to proceed. Hope this helps.

I’m getting it done by a mob in Canberra Called Autografika and they said they have tried all the brands of wrap and find that the bodyfence stuff to them is better overall. It has a 7 year guarantee for all the usual stuff, and will cost $2400 for the full front end.

It looks reasonable, i had a quick look at their website, a full front end wrap for that money sounds about right, you will not regret it, the wrap should stop paint chips, i have heard some cheap wraps can turn yellow after so many years, but top of the range PPFs should be fine, and you have 7 years of warranty, show us some photos once you get it back.

I had my first tiny paint chip today, so enough’s enough lol. Luckily it’s at the very bottom part of the bumper, just gotta get it the the shop safely tomorrow

I did my whole front end, hood, A pillar and rockers with Xpel. I do a lot of driving and my last car looked like the front end went through a war zone. So wrapping the whole front of the vehicle was a no brainer.

One of my concerns is being silver, how will the front end look compared to the uncovered back end. Surely the two different finishes will be noticeable. Note, my car is already ceramic coated.

Ohhh, honestly putting PPF over Ceramic Coating is not ideal, i have PPF, but wanting to Ceramic Coating over it since last year, will get to it, do the installers know you have Ceramic Coating already ? if so, did they say Ok ?

They know, they said they would have to do a test bit to see if it would stick, but remove the coating if it doesn’t. Read reports of PPF being difficult to keep properly clean over the years also.
I dunno, starting to get second thoughts.

You may want to read this first.
Hexis Bodyfence paint protection film
Looks like xpel or suntek are best but it needs to be done by a very good installer preferrably by custom fit rather than a template cutout as you will get a 3-5mm gap around the bonnet vents and other parts. Do your research and dont buy just on price, cheapest is not necessarily the best as alot of films arent that glossy as Suntek where as Xpel is thicker but harder to stretch. Suntek has a 10 yr warranty i believe.

If they need to remove the Ceramic Coating , on the full front end, go that way, and see if there is a difference between the look of the PPF covered front end, and the rest of the car from the front doors to the rear, if there is. maybe get the PPF Ceramic Coated over, all i can say is PPF on the front end is that best way to go.

Ceramic has to be removed before PPF, using a compound/polish. Hopefully they've included that in the price, because it takes time, effort and materials..

No difference whatsoever on my Silky Silver. I don't have ceramic (yet), so we are looking at half the car under PPF and half just OE clear coat. I agree with those who have said it's okay to put ceramic over the entire car once PPF is installed. I don't know a thing about putting PPF over ceramic, but I'd be leery to do it. Sounds like the ceramic needs to come off first. Too bad (waste of money) if that's the case.

I’m going to go and see another company here who use Suntek, and in talks with the people who put on the ceramic coat, they think that putting vinyl on it won’t be an issue, but I’ll see what the other vinyl mob say.

As with Merlin, my entire front end is covered in Xpel Ultimate. I have no regrets, no chips, and no color variation with rest of the car. I'm not sure what the exchange rate difference is, but Xpel cost $1,800 on mine. Mirrors, whole hood, both fenders, a-pillars and the entire bumper.

I have the same Xpel film and coverage other than the hood. Went with the 24” hood. I’ve had 3M Scotchguard film and Xpel and have been happy with both products.

Paid $750 CAD. Dealer installed at cost.

Wow! You can't even purchase the product for that. Sweet deal! 2019-04-01 21.51.50.webp

Those prices seem high though. These prices below are cheaper for the Xpel ultimate and aren’t even wholesale.

That's correct, I have the ultimate plus. Ultimate is still great stuff though! Plus less expensive
