After turning my car off I realized the 'Android Auto' USB port was still supplying power to my phone. Is it safe to leave the USB cable plugged into the port 24/7? Of course, not leaving my phone connected unless I'm in the car but I'm worried about battery drain leaving the cable plugged in. I want to extend this port to the center console storage area but don't want any issues.

I've had a cord hooked up to mine since the trip home from the dealership.
No problems...

I also always have a short USB cable plugged in and no issues here either. I think as long as you dont have a device pulling power it's not draining anything by just having the cable there.

Are you sure it stayed on indefinitely? The infotainment system stays on for a certain amount of time or until you open a door. The power is coming from that, so I would be surprised if it stayed on after the system shuts down.

I'll have to test again, but even after opening my door yesterday (and confirmed the center screen was off, etc) the phone was still charging.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
No issues w leaving cable in the port as long as no device is connected drawing power. No device, no power draw.
I'm also pretty sure it's not a constant on USB. After turning off car the power may stay on u til you open and close door.. or maybe once the headlights fully turn off and you lock the car, USB shouldnt have power. I'd be real surprised if stock wiring is constant on

Are you wanting it to be constant? That's a pretty easy fix-you could just swap out the switched +12v for a constant fused lead from the battery. I did that very thing with the rear 12v port on my Pilot-makes pumping an air mattress when camping pretty easy.

I thought the same thing for the USB data port as I have a data cable with an LED indicator. I left it plugged in and then checked it a while later after I left the car and it eventually turned off. Using these cables "Magnetic Charging Cable, CAFELE", it makes connecting power super quick and easy. These cables also have data which is very sweet for Android auto.
