Sighhh

Everything was going smoothly until I hit the front of the x/h pipe, where you remove the 4 nuts right behind the 2nd pair of cats. Ive added a picture to illustrate.

You can see where ive backed off one of the nuts, and its decided to take that bolt out with it. I dont think it will be possible to get that back in once its out. Did anyone else have this issue? Am I missing something?

This is the original oem secondary cats? If I am seeing this correctly, those 19mm nuts are threaded onto studs that stay attached to the pipes. If the stud comes out with the nut, just replace it with a new nut and bolt. If you have access to a propane or map gas torch, you can heat the stud and use vice grips to turn it out. This is during the removal and not the installation yet correct?

Those are really rusted badly. Did you use some pb blaster and let it soak? I’m not sure if a bolt will go through there but you can try that once you get the stud out. The aftermarket mid pipes are mounted with bolts and nuts.

Your other option would be to order their silenced midpipes and rip those rusty things outta there.

Yes, those studs are now coming out with the nut which I didn't expect. Just assumed they would stay in place.

I thought I had some penetrant before I began but couldn't find it, so I just got started and the ones at the muffler came out super easy. Just the bottom ones in the picture are super rusted, I'm going to get some from Walmart.

After looking through the parts again and seeing what I thought could be reused and what was given to me, I feel like I'm either missing something(s) or I just assumed this kit would be a bolt-on with everything I needed. Guess I had the wrong idea?

I have done ball-joints, control arms, struts, tie-rods, clutch master/slave cylinder, brakes; I am somewhat handy but I think I bit off more than I could chew with this unfortunately. They didn't charge me for duty and I budgeted for that, so I think I will use that money and just have a shop do it for me.

It's a bit of an issue with things being closed due to covid, and me having to drive an hour each way to work on it; I live in an apartment building and have to go to my mom's to use her garage and there is nothing close that would carry that. I'm sure I could get them in my city or online but I'm over it at this point, I don't mind paying someone else to do it.

A shop 2 mins from my apartment will do it for me tomorrow. Thanks for helping a clueless goofball anyway guys

As a side note... Salt is evil.
