Hello everyone! :)

Hope we're all being safe and sound during this really serious coronavirus outbreak. I have a very noobish question or two. I've been doing research and watching videos on this subject matter but am getting very confused about different brands and different methods of installation.

Thank you all btw! :D

Here are my questions:

1 - If I add a catback exhaust to my 2020 Stinger GT (RWD) is there any risk to damaging the vehicle? I understand that warranty can be denied if they can link a modification to causing the issue, but at the same time, could there be bad codes thrown or check engine lights or any leaks? Will I have to worry about any exhaust leek or boost leak or issues with the catalytic converter?

2 - What is the most reliable and trusted name and brand for a catback exhaust that I can add to the car? My goal is to have an exhaust that does NOT reduce any performance or fuel economy. The main goal is improving the sound both on idle and full throttle, but, if there is any improvement due to perhaps the exhaust being of lighter material that is a plus. These aftermarket exhausts are normally lighter correct?

3 - Will I need to do anything such as tuning the car for the new catback exhaust or adjusting any parts? I don't seem to understand whether or not my car has "valves" that open and close in different drive modes. Would these be affected by the aftermarket exhaust?

4 - Would adding exhaust tips to the catback exhaust have any issues? Or should I first just install the catback exhaust and see from there?

5 - Any other tips or advice the forums would suggest for me? I will be installing it with some friends in a driveway with the vehicle on jack stands. Let me know the risks or if this is a big bad idea.

1. You can damage it during installation if you're careless. But this would be damage to the paint and things of that nature. There's isn't much a catback can do to harm the car. There are no sensors located in the catback so no codes will be thrown. Catbacks don't alter the cats.

2. That's subjective. Pick the one that you think sounds the best with the best price for your budget. They aren't ALL lighter. I had Thermal's catback on my car and it was slightly heavier than stock, IIRC.

3. No valves in the stock exhaust. No tuning needed for catbacks.

4. It could help to reduce any possible drone. If sound isn't a concern you could do it for looks. Either way it won't hurt the car. You will most likely have to alter the opening where the stock tips are located.

1. I have a Borla catback installed and there is no issue with catbacks. For the warranty part you got it right.

2. I think any exhaust will improve performance a little bit. The OEM exhaust is quite a bit more restrictive than aftermarket options. The main reason I got a catback is the sound. Love how my stinger looks, and now I love how it sounds. Borla is loud though if you go that route. I would suggest either connecting the tips to the OEM fake tips preventing reverberation under the car and even putting sound deadening material in the spare tire area.

3. The ECU is pretty smart and after a few wide open throttles the car will learn the new parameters of the changes.

4. There would be no issues changing the exhaust tips, you can add similar oval aftermarket tips that can pop right in. However I would be careful since they would be connected they might get much more warmer and I would make sure that the tips aren't touching the body panels. I will be getting some round tips as I like the look of those better. If you go round tip option you will have to shave/trim a small amount out around the tips to get them to fit in there. All the aftermarket exhausts have different size outlets so make sure you do the research to make sure that they will fit over the ends.

5. I'm a bigger guy and I attempted to get under the car with some ramps and it was TOUGH, so tough that I decided not to mess with it. I took it to an exhaust shop and they installed it for $125 + tax and had it done in 20 mins. The car sits pretty low and you really have to get under the car to get to the xpipe area.

Again I have the Borla that doesn't bother me to much while driving around town. I have yet to do any highway trips to see how bad the drone will bother me. Borla is way louder than stock also. Cold starts have me looking around hoping someone isn't coming at me with a baseball bat at 7 in the morning. Nothing will beat the burbles I get and the downshifts make me smile like hell.
There is a massive exhaust post in the exhaust section that you could read through.

Good luck!

You pretty much got everything already but the only bit of advice I’ll throw into it is to make sure you factor in how loud the exhaust is, 1) so that you like it and 2) in case your area has sound ordinances and you don’t violate that.

in my area I have small areas with sound ordinances kind of randomly but rarely had trouble since I avoided them when possible in my old loud z28. I have the 2.0t model with factory exhaust currently but have looked at NGMs Delta axle back to give it some rumble but nothing to crazy. There’s a lot of options out there for sound/tone/volume just be sure to do your research, good luck on your hunt.
