Prior to getting the Stinger I had a modern (6th gen) V6 Camaro with the optional factory NPP exhaust. I absolutely LOVED the exhaust on that thing. I'd really like to get a similar sound on the Stinger, if possible. Yes I know I'm comparing a NA V6 to a Turbo V6, but I'm pretty disappointed in the Stinger's stock exhaust sound. Below are a couple vids of the Camaro exhaust for reference. The Camaro exhaust pops on up shift, and I know that's not possible on the Stinger without a tune. That's ok. I just want the sound. Are there any aftermarket exhausts for the Stinger that sound similar?

Borla is pretty good. Not just like that, but honestly after hearing my car go by, at full throttle from the outside of the car, I was blown away. 1st thing that came to my mind was nascar!

Awesome, I'll look at videos of Borla more closely. Did you add aftermarket tips as well? I heard that the drone can get pretty bad without new tips?

yes, aftermarket tips! anything that bolts on to the pipes and takes the noise out past the bumper. That's all you need.

If mine could sound like this. I’d buy that exhaust today.

I had the Borla S-type exhaust with the Borla carbon fiber tips installed on my 2018 GT2 and I'm in love with the sound the car makes. At cruising speeds, there is no drone, but when you full throttle or lightly accelerate it makes a deep tone that you wouldn't expect to come from a V6. It is quite loud for just a cat-back, but Borla did great with that exhaust so I highly recommend it. Was considering getting a secondary cat delete before the install but after today I don't believe I'm going to need one.

Awesome, thanks! The Camaro V6 had a more raspy sound in the upper rpm range, that I didn't like at first, but came to love later on. It was deeper in the lower range though. It also revved to 7K, which was awesome.

I'm hoping to find a similar sound with the Stinger.

If your wanting a louder exhaust with a little rasp I would definitely go with Borla considering they have the louder exhausts for the stinger. That is if you haven't bought an exhaust already. I recommend getting a cat-back put on first like the Borla for example and drive it for about a week or so to see how you like it. If you are wanting more rasp with some pops and burbles then look into catless secondary downpipes, or some call them mid-pipes. You could save some money by going to one of your trusted muffler shops and having them just do a secondary cat delete. Catless downpipes will run you about $500-$600, my muffler shop said they could do a cat delete for about $140 and it would produce the same sound. With just the Borla S type and custom tips, I am hearing some burble noises after I started lowing down. The cat delete would make the burbles louder but I also don't want the exhaust as a whole too loud. It's all personal preference though so for what you stated id recommend a Borla Catback with a secondary cat delete of some sort whether it be a downpipe or just a straight cat delete. Do you have any other mods for your stinger, and or planning to do anything else other than an exhaust? Hope this helps!

good luck getting a turbo to sound like NA.

Also, you will be able to pass emission checks with a secondary cat delete if they have those mandatory checks in your state. You won't pass emissions with a primary delete though.

Thanks for all the info! Yep from what I've seen and heard thus far it seems like Borla is the closest to what I want. I'm not going to mod much at all. My only 'big' mods will likely be the exhaust and maybe swaybars. Otherwise I'm keep the car stock. Not going to mess with the cats. I do live in a state that tests emmissions. Even if I could delete the secondary cats without issue, I'm just gonna keep them.

Yeah I know. :-/ The results won't be exactly the same, but I'd like an exhaust that approximates the sound.

The Borla will do you well trust me! The Borla carbon fiber tips are darn expensive but they make the back end look super aggressive and will help with any drone if you've got the cash to buy them lol. Good luck with your car!
