Can I drive in snow with this 6"+ windshield crack?

I just came back from a weekend ski trip in Mammoth. I must have gotten a tiny chip on the way up, which turned into a huge crack once I cranked the heat up this afternoon. It's expanded horizontally a few more inches since I took this pic. I'm planning on going back up to Mammoth next weekend, which is expecting several feet of snow on Sunday-Tuesday.

I scheduled a Safelite appointment for Wednesday, but I assume they wouldn't be able to get it replaced (especially with OEM glass since I have a GT2) before I have to leave on Friday. The crack doesn't currently obscure any visibility, and I'm going to get it all replaced anyways, so would it still be safe to drive this up to the mountains this weekend in heavy snow conditions? I would have to park outdoors. Otherwise, I'd have to get a rental car, but I'd feel more comfortable driving my own car with autosocks than some random rental SUV.

A crack isn't going to result in your windshield collapsing/imploding. At worst, it'll keep expanding until it reaches the edge. It's probably only the outer layer anyway; this is a noise resistant laminated glass.

All windshield glass is laminated. You're talking about the front side windows. But youre right, the windshield should be replaced but itll be fine with the snow. Some people drive like that for years (although they shouldnt for crash safety reasons).

Awesome thanks, will just get it replaced next week then. On another note, looks like Geico won't pay for OEM glass initially, so I'll give AM a shot and see if there are any HUD/sensor issues. Safelite seems to guarantee OEM if any issues do come up at least.

Geico did the same with me on my BMW. They sent a Safelite person out who then verified it should be replaced. Something of note: they are required to drive the vehicle to recalibrate the various sensors so hopefully you're okay with a greasy stranger driving your car.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Yeah not too concerned as long as they can calibrate it correctly! Seems that the dealership would charge the same amount, but I guess I'll just have Safelite do it so they can take full responsibility in case any issues come up.

We get fix-it tickets in NJ driving with it.

Does NJ do annual or bi-annual vehicle inspections? I know some state do. In CA, we just have smog inspections in most counties, some counties are exempt, like mine thank goodness.
But judging from some of the heaps on the road, we probably should have vehicle inspections.

Nope, we are on the honor system now except for emissions. Though if we have anything glaring, like something impeding our vision, it could be various.

They can ticket us for on visual inspection violations like for a crack in the windshield it's : "Obstruction of windshield for vision", loud muffler, bad lights. And obviously if the car looks unsafe to drive it can be ticketed or toed.
