Camping in the stinger......?

That's so weird. Someone a few days ago posted a Camping in the SHO on the SHO forum. Guess it's that time of year!

Is camping in your car just a fancy way to say you had to sleep in your car? Seems weird, if you want to camp, drive to the campsite in the Stinger and put up a tent lol

Thoughts?

I bet this could be done even better in the stinger as the hatch area is larger and fully open when the rear seats are down. Do the rear seats lay flat and at the same level as the rest of the trunk?
no. Ima surprised that you haven't lowered your seats yet. I think the experience would be less than comfy.

Some of us are just too lazy for that :))
I did sleep in my Stinger one night at the seaside during the pandemic (right after the lockdowns). Was at the time when everyone was freaked out, even with staying in a hotel.
Slept directly on a sleeping bag. It was not terribly uncomfortable but I'm 173cm tall :)
Having an electric tailgate was a plus.

I have once or twice, but it's a pain. The passenger in the rear insists on having the seats covered. Lowering requires the cover to realigned back into position (wedged between the reclining portion and car body). Also there's the headache of seat belt buckles not leaving impressions.

I've never slept in the car over night, but figure it would be an interesting experience and save some $$ when traveling multi days.

That's interesting. A Jeep Rubicon on display inside a Kia dealership.
yes, except it's a gladiator. the dealerships franchise recently picked up jeep too. I thought the display in the kia showroom was pretty random.

In my stingers road trip time I have slept few times and it was not perfect comfortable for me. The seats don't fold completely flat, so it's a bit of a struggle to get comfy. If you're really set on camping in it, I'd say looking into an SUV tent that way you have more space to move around and stretch out. Best wishes.

If you're going to sleep in your car, MAKE SURE YOU CRACK THE WINDOWS/SUNROOF, to avoid CO2 poisoning and possible suffocation.

That said, my tips:
1. With the rear seats folded down, a twin size mattress topper fits perfectly. I'd say 3" memory foam is the minimum for an overnighter.
2. Bring a warm hat, the fresh air can get chilly.
3. The 40-60 seats don't line up perfectly, so stuff a towel or shirt under the 40 seat to bring it level.
4. If you're over 6ft, tilt the front seats forward and play with installing the rear headrests for extended pillow support.
5. You'll probably want some sort of window tint or privacy blinds if you don't want to be seen.
6. Bring a bag to store your shoes so you don't track dirt inside.
7. Apply Masking tape on the rear cabin light and trunk lights.
8. You'll need a faraday cover for the fob to lock the car with you inside, possibly aluminum foil.
9. Bring water and snacks, and plan your bathroom trip in advance.
10. There's not a lot of storage with this setup besides the front seats, a rooftop cargo box could help.

And even though you can physically press the inside trunk button on the trunk while its closed, it doesn't work. You'll need to use the fob or reach to the drivers trunk button.

A fun experiment, not the worst sleep I've ever had, but now that it's crossed off my list I don't plan on repeating it.
Might be an ok spot to lay down between track day sessions.
