I know alot of people on here have the 3.3 This is regards to the 2.0 specifally however this can also just be generic question.
I Started to add a few things to my car, i recently bought a few items
K&N cold air intake (+ the pre-charger for the water/dust)
Jb4 +new plugs
because of arrival dates i only installed the CAI, I am no master mechanic. the install was seemly easy(besides for accidently trying to slide the old part of the intake onto the turbo inlet where the plastic around the clamp cranked instantly.)
The only "performance" mod added currently is just the K&N intake. that was the same day i painted a little bit under the hood. so i did not bother with the jb4, during my test drive i felt a weird kick back very soft, but noticeable in the peddle. mainly when i left off the gas or it switches gears normally around 4500 rpm, i hear a "boof boof" not a psssssh. I Checked out the install everything seems tightly secure all bolts are locked in tight the box does not move.
Installing my CAI i notice a small amount of oil inside the turbo inlet, and i checked online and people say that's normal. i started to think that was the sound, the oil mixed with the air gave it the boof boof sound. but i am not so sure.
i have not installed the jb4 yet due to if this is hurting the car i do not wish to add more pressure to it until fixed or at least understood. same with any other mods later
A few times not many on hard acceleration i felt the peddle almost "knock" but notice pressure in between the gear change. the sound happens randomly, literally every time i try to record the sound it works correctly. as a bad way to spell this out the car has its motor sound, intake sound, and eventually a pssssh. however some of the time it has its motor, intake, and then a boof boof.
Also to note, i am not sure if this is normal with CAI in general, when i go to hard accelerate on "automatic" if i go to accelerate hard the car power and motor picks up, however no intake sound. but if i let off and just press the gas again(normally the car would have switched gears in this process) the intake sound resumes like normal while i press the gas.
and twice, i notice (getting on a highway from a dead stop) i press the gas hard and its almost no power for about 3 seconds.
main questions are,
* What is the boof boof sound? and is it bad? or is it just not enough built up pressure
* the no acceleration for 3 seconds from a stop to a hard acceleration (not a launch)
* the knock in the peddle that sometimes happens when it switches gears and i get the boof boof sound?
*oil in turbo inlet bad? thinking about a catch can to hopefully remove that from happening as much.
Lastly, no i have not taken this apart and put stock intake back in, mainly due to 1 the stock power coupler that's reused last time the end tabs snapped even with very little pressure trying to slide it over the orange gasket on the turbo inlet.
2020 Kia Stinger 2.0
27k miles
no issues warning anything before CAI install.
if this lets me i am going to try to post some videos that i did post if you can hear it. but like i said i couldnt really get the boof boof sound recorded.
formus will not allow me to post the link due to "being new" if anyone know a way to fix that please let me know.
