I just brought home a few 8ft 2x4 beams in my RSX for a project and thought to myself "I wonder if this would be possible in a stinger?"

I had to fold the rear seats down and slide the front passenger seat all the way forward and tilt it back till the headrest rested on the rear seat, then the beams fit diagonally with a few inches to spare, rear-left to front-right.

Anyone tried something similar? You could probably do a 10 footer considering how much longer the stinger is. :D

This was me last weekend. 18 6ft 1x6s. And a new rake lol. Could've fit a lot more if I needed. Any longer and you would have to slide between the seats or figure out something with the passenger seat. I didnt move the passenger seat from normal position for this.

I wonder how much range the shotgun seat has? I know some of them fold flat to serve as a small table.

This is a legitimate reason to get a Stinger over a sedan competitor, well done.

A very good question, that - especially as I'll probably be selling off my reliable old half ton this spring due to lack of use. Beside dimensional lumber, a number of products are sold in 8 foot lengths as well.

So I took a 8 ft. 2 x 4 out to the Stinger and found a way that it would comfortably fit. Remove the cargo cover, fold the passenger side back seat (60 percent section) down, move the front passenger seat all the way forward, lay the front passenger seat back rest all the way down, and remove the headrest.

You'll need to put something (cardboard and/or blanket) over the top of the passenger seat leather to protect it, but it's quite feasible to carry a number of 8 foot studs, trim pieces, moldings, what have you. Note that the front end of the 2 x 4 is nowhere near the dashboard - lots of clearance there.:)

The only issue I see here is that I'd be afraid of the 2x4 flying forward if you have to make any hard braking maneuvers, and making contact with the glass.

I don't think the angle is high enough to hit the glass - but you could also wrap an extended bungee cord a few times around whatever bundle you are transporting, and hook each end back to the factory cargo net tiedowns in the hatch.

Of course nobody can anticipate when emergency braking might be needed, but I generally take it extra easy on the way home when I'm carrying something like this.

PERFECT! How much longer a beam do you think it could fit?

I wrapped them front and back in thick old blankets to stop them moving & rubbing the interior. I would've bought the 10ft ones if they'd fit.

I didn't measure the remaining distance, but I'd say 9 feet would probably still fit with some clearance, 10 feet no. One could run a tape from the back corner up over the folded seat to be sure.
