I see a lot of Stingers on Instagram now that the algorithm knows I'm a proud owner of one ;). Well today I saw someone happily showing off their new GT2, so despite not knowing the gentleman I decided to congratulate him, after all he chose Micro Blue, which is by far the best color around :p

But something was bothering me. Was the car used? It had some aftermarket wheels and body colored mirrors. The smoked chrome on the brake duct had been replaced with standard high gloss chrome. Weird choices, but who am I to judge, I was just glad the guy was happy.

Then I thought some more, and when I got home I fired up the Kia Stinger builder on their website. A ha! Those aren't aftermarket bits, those are standard trim for a 2.0 liter model! Even the front bumper, which I hadn't noticed before, is a definite match for a 2.0L. I hope the dealership didn't pull a fast one on this guy, but I damn sure hope he isn't trying to pull a fast one on friends and internet car enthusiasts, lol

I'm attaching my proof, with names redacted to protect the innocent

Hey if you own this car and see this post, I'd love to clear this up! hahaha

That, is interesting. I await developments ...

Mystery solved. He says it's actually a 2.0 Premium AWD

Big difference from a GT2 but quite honestly the average person would never know the difference.

This happened to someone here on the forum last spring if memory serves. Thought he had purchased a GT2 but in reality it was a Premium. I think the dealer remedied the situation but it is obvious some people don’t do their homework.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
When I was buying a Kia Soul I had looked through their inventory and picked out the one I wanted. I mentioned to the salesman that I had really wanted one with a sun roof, but they didn't have one with the other things I absolutely insisted upon. He assured me that they did have one with a sun roof, but was otherwise exactly like the one I was considering except color and I didn't really care that much about color. But when I went an looked at it instead of the top end model without a sun roof, it was a base model loaded up with a bunch of stuff, but NO turbo, wrong engine, etc. So it's really hard to tell the difference between dishonesty and stupidity. The effect on the customer is pretty much the same.
