Burning rubber smell

Occasionally I get a smell of burning rubber when I get out coming from the rear of the car. Any ideas anybody?

Haha! good one! No, 'not troll'in' - I think it might be the DPF doing a regeneration cycle. If you're not familiar with diesel engines check this out:

I saw that but not being that big of a car guy it really never crossed my mind. I was surprised to see a fuel cap where I've seen a lot of cars go away from having any cap at all.

If you stop flooring the gas pedal it will solve the problem.
