• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Hi All,

I am based out of Burlington, Canada, and my Blind Spot Monitoring stopped working and I took my Stinger to the dealership and they charged me $120 just to look at the issue.

They told me that they have re-calibrated the issue and it's been fixed with no hardware issue.

My question is: it's still under warranty then why are they charging me just to look at the issue? I don't mind paying however it adds to the experience. If I have any issues so every time there is an issue I have to pay $120? have you guys experienced the same?

Following, I feel like you shouldn't have to pay but this is my firs t car with a warranty and don't know how this all works.

Hm, I wonder if it's because it's not a hardware issue. They didn't replace anything so maybe they don't consider it under warranty. I would have definitely questioned them about it.

I asked them and they are saying regardless of whether it's under warranty they charge just to look into the issue. If there was a hardware issue, they will cover it uderwarranty and I don't have to pay except for the amount to look into the issue.

I feel it should be covered under warranty even to inspect the issue.

Call another dealership and ask if they charge for warranty related repairs.

Here’s what you need to do… Call up your local news channel… Explain how the dealer refuses to cover an obvious warranty issue… Make them put a story out on it… And I guarantee you Kia will contact you and refund the charge

Sounds like you're dealing with a really scummy dealership. Never go back

They should not have charged you for this.

You already paid (it's ok, mistakes happen, but look things up next time instead of coming in blind) but you still have options.

Contact the dealership and ask to be refunded since this should have been covered under warranty. If they refuse let them know that you will not stand for this and will be contacting corporate AND you will be filling out the dealership survey negatively.

Contact Kia corporate and explain to them what happened. There is a 50/50 chance they will not help you since it's Kia. :p

If that does not work, then as others have said, either go to a local news channel or have them flamed online. Either way, if you use social media outside of car forums, post the name of the dealership and who you worked with. Give some negative reviews on Google and Yelp and whatever else. Fill out the Kia customer service survey all dealerships get.

Good luck.

I agree with everyone else you shouldn't have to pay for that. If something under warranty fails, they can't charge you for the diagnostic of that that's part of having a warranty. See what you can do and then take the suggested avenues if they're not willing to work with you. If you have another Kia dealership nearby you may want to look into making a switch too.

I will not go to this Lockwood kia in Oakville anymore. I looked up online and it's a simple fix of recalibrating the BSD from the OBD port.

I will be talking to corporate for sure and definitely put in -ve comment and -ve in the surveys.
