I got an email from my dealer yesterday telling me Kia was holding a track day on Friday August 10 and did I want to go? Hell yeah but it’s a Friday and I can’t get away from work. It’s killing me. Do I want to hop into someone elses Stinger and thrash it around a track? Of course I do. Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!! After reading Ozstung’s review of the Sydney day I’ve been hoping they would hold one up here. Oh well. The dealer mentioned a few other people couldn’t attend on weekdays either so hopefully they might hold another one on a weekend.

If there are any other Brisbane or Queensland members who haven’t been contacted it might be worth a quick phone call to your dealer to see if there are any spots left.

Go into the Downunder forum and look for the thread that has the QLD owners register and post something there you may get some bites like I did.

Lucky you, I’m sure it’ll be great. Just to add insult to injury, after telling the dealer I wasn’t able to go, yesterday I got 4 emails from KIA Marketing in Sydney asking me to rsvp and attaching photos, weblinks etc. it’s just cruel.

I wish I could. I’m self employed so it’s more a matter of not wanting to damage my business. If it was just a case of chucking a sickie or knocking off a few hours early, I’d be gone in a flash.

Hi Oliver sorry for the delay in replying. The day was great, it was an very informative experience. 24 invited guests were split up into 4 groups which went through different phases. Skid pads, hot laps, ABS crash braking, chicane manoeuvring and lectures. The hot laps with the professional driver was fantastic, it showed the cars full performance and it's capabilities. Free coffee, drinks and eats available all day. At the end of the session each guest received a gift of a t-shirt and a sports action camera. The only drawback of the day was the extremely heavy traffic going home.

Traffic on the way home would have been a bastard, particularly going all the way up to Bribie. After a day like that you would have been itching to put the foot down too. If it makes you feel any better remember that while you were stuck in traffic, I was stuck at work. Lol.

Looks good would love to get on one here in NSW. Was that also the same day they turned up with the QLD Highway Patrol car and the news crews?

Yep that was it. I saw the report on the news but it only dealt with the police angle not the day generally. I guess they figured Kia is already getting enough free advertising!

Edit. And as Stinger GT has said, NSW has been and gone. I've got my fingers crossed they holdi another one on the weekend this time.
