Wouldn't you know it...driving home from getting my new 2022 GT2 and my hand drops to the right side of the center console (where the silver finish is) and I can feel something sharp there. That side panel is a good several millimeters dented inwards, allowing the silver top panel to create an overhang.

I did not see this during inspection, but I was able to 3d scan the differences.....has anyone else had this problem?

The dealer says the somewhat sharp plastic edge and the asymmetry is "normal"...I will have to go to a local dealer to confirm that.

I can't yet post links or images since I am new to this forum, so hopefully someone can help me figure out how to post a link or images?

Most likely the clips are just miss aligned.

The entire aluminum top just pulls up. Start in the armrest. Use a pry tool. You won’t break anything.

Yeah.. Kia build quality is something else. At delivery I noticed my hood wasn't perfectly centered. They offered to readjust but figured they make it worse. Not to mention visible tool marks on the hood hinge hardware (making one wonder why was it repainted possibly?).

Actually, that’s by design. My car has it too. at least on the earlier cars, there is a curved crease that goes down from there towards the front of the car.

The aluminum panel maintains a straight line, probably because it’s cheaper to make, but I also think the top would look odd with that ”pinch” in the middle.

Thanks! I went into a local dealer, and checked a couple of the cars on the lot. The ones on the lot were symmetric, while mine is not.

As someone else said, it probably is a problem with the trim piece not fitting into the clips underneath, but I don't want to mess with it when it's something that the dealer should have found before delivering the car.

I’ve taken the console off numerous times to install the start stop disable and the closed door cup holders....there’s no unaligned parts but the indentation is there.B593D443-174D-49B4-85EC-BE1EA15A4225.webp

Thanks! Yeah, mine does not look like that on the right side. The images and 3D scan I did at the beginning of the thread shows it a bit more clearly, but the sharp underside of the trim piece is definitely there when you rake your finger over it.
