Hello friends,

I installed Borla on Friday. I took it to my local shop here in Ottawa, Canada and they installed it for me for $169.50 Canadian.

my only other mod is lighter wheels. no other mods on car but that and the Borla.

this is my first performance, sporty or whatever you want to call the stinger car. i have never owned before loud cars or performance cars.

my observations:

  1. it sounds good. youtube videos don't do it justice. car should have really come out stock like this. hearing from outside while the installer drove it, it sounded really good.
  2. it is loud, but its not going to make your neighbors wish you a painful death. if you have ever heard truck v8s, and v8s from american muscles, or the noise from motorcycles, this is tamer in comparison. much tamer.
  3. the sound build up when you press hard on gas is good. its an exciting sound and makes you want to keep driving. even if you don't drive fast. i understand now what people mean when they say sound can really transform a car. you don't need to be going crazy fast to have fun with the sound.
  4. car burbles at low speeds with foot off gas and in lower gears. it's an addicting sound.
  5. there is a bit of tinny noise. it doesn't bother me, but to each his own. if you are sensitive hearing you may not like it.
  6. very slight drone on highway speeds going uphill. it doesn't bother me, but again. to each his own. I ordered the fake akrapovic exhaust tips to help with the sound when i bought, but i don't think i will install them as i am ok with the slight drone.
  7. you can hear music and have conversation in car easily. i had music set to 6 volume, windows down and sunroof open and could easily talk to the girlfriend.

this is pretty much it. I think it was money well spent. out of all mods, I think exhaust is most important as it will make you feel you are going fast, even if you are driving grandma speeds.

thank you for reading my review. i am not a car expert, or exhaust sound expert by any means. appreciate everyone's inputs.

anyone know what mods i can add to the gurgles louder? it seems for pops and bangs ecu tune is only way. does JB4 help in making sound louder in any anyway? CAI?

A fellow Ottawa stinger owner! Welcome! And yes, the borla does sound amazing and does tempt you quite a bit to floor it - can't recall the last time I merged onto the highway without pressing the pedal down way more than necessary haha. Also, regarding that tinny sound, give it a few hundred km's - mine did have that too at first, but it seems to have gone away as they carboned up

As for the gurgles, I haven't noticed any difference personally between stock and the racechip I have, so I can't say getting the JB4 will help make them louder. CAI will help get more sound, but more so from the turbos spooling up and sucking in the air.

Maybe secondary down pipes could help get more sound?

PS: if you're interested in trying out a CAI on the cheap, I have a set of the diy intakes you can try out. Piping is a little scratched up where it meets the strut brace, but they still work just fine.

As mentioned, the exhaust will deepen once the carbon builds up. As for the drone, the best remedy are tips that allow the exhaust to escape the cavity under the trunk area. Also you can put in sound dampening material in the spare tire area. Before I had my Borla I would rarely shift my gears. Now It's addicting to be in manual mode most of the time and run out the gear longer and also the downshifts are amazing also. Enjoy!

The intakes are a great sound and IMO worth it. Exhaust and intakes make driving the car much more of an experience with the wooshes and growls. So fun!

which shop did you go to for the install? I have MBRP plus tips coming this week/next week and looking for a solid place

kanata wheels in kanata. 25 Edgewater St

no appointment. called in morning and asked if i could come in to get the exhaust installed. told me to come in afternoon and i was out after about an hour or so.

note: i bought my wheels, winter tires and winter wheels and installation at this place for 2 years. so don't know if that affects pricing. i am sure someone will say i could have got better pricing somewhere else, but i have dealt with these guys for other stuff so i continue with them.

I'm ready for replacing my stock exhaust for a Borla S-Type Cat-Back on my Canadian 2018 Stinger GT Limited. What's the best thing to do, order it online from Borla and have it installed locally? And if so, I live near Montreal, any good places to have it installed? Any advice from Quebec Stinger owners who have perhaps done it? Thanks in advance.

Install yourself. It isn’t technically challenging. It’s just bolts. Just don’t do it using ramps only in July when it’s 100degrees and 95% humidity.
