Depends on your definition of "drone". If you are on the accelerator at all, you will hear it no doubt. Even if you're cruising you'll hear a pretty constant roar. It isn't an unpleasant echo or vibration sound, it is always a pleasant sound but you will only have quiet time when you're coasting.Borla cat back for 3.3TT, they claim “No Drone” thinking of buying.
Can anyone on here attest to their claim from own experience?
Just need to know if theres Drone at 100-110km/hr in comfort mode? Cheers.
Thanks Mate, did you have any figment issues or Rubbing? Also do you have the Borla tips installed as I hear that gets rid of some of the drone?Depends on your definition of "drone". The only thing I don't like about it is how loud it is no matter the acceleration. I can be barely accelerating and it sounds like a rocket ship. I feel like that is excessive when the prius next to me is accelerating at the same rate.
Thanks Mate, so you have rubbing from this exhaust? Some might say there is drone at first. I didn’t notice any on mine. But sound changes with age too.
tolerances are tight and some people I think have rubbing with the exhaust to what shielding/cross braces. If that is proper, you shouldn’t have drone with stock midlipes.
this has been beat like a dead horse.
Nope. I fiddled with it a lot to get it right. Thanks Mate, so you have rubbing from this exhaust?
The car actually came with the exhaust so I did not do the install. The type-s Borla requires you to use OEM tips if I read so correctly on their page. I took a look under the car, it seems to be an easy and clean fit. Thanks Mate, did you have any figment issues or Rubbing? The Borla type s system, which I recently installed, doesn't mate up directly to the oem tips, which is the source of a lot of dreaded drone. Not sure how much tweaking yours had but sounds like a bit.The car actually came with the exhaust so I did not do the install. I have some tips on order from Aliaxpress which others have used to connect to the Borla and this fixes any Drone apparentlyThe Borla type s system, which I recently installed, doesn't mate up directly to the oem tips, which is the source of a lot of dreaded drone. Cheers Mate, I have stock down pipes and the borla exhaust but have not installed yet (Will be doing over Xmas) I will be using tips from Ali express. Will let you know how I go. cheers.@Kando did you make a decision? I had the Jun BL downpipes installed with the Borla and tips about 6 weeks ago. I'm in love with the sound. There is no drone (vibration,) but this setup is LOUD, so you will hear it even when cruising at around 65-85. It quiets past 90mph. IMO, it's a bit too much for long road trips. I made two 10hr+ road trips since getting it. If you will be making frequent roadtrips, and are worried about rear passengers, I would go with a quieter option - or just stick with stock downpipes. Def get tips though
Awesome. I think you'll like it alot.Cheers Mate, I have stock down pipes and the borla exhaust but have not installed yet (Will be doing over Xmas) I will be using tips from Ali express. Will let you know how I go. cheers.
