Hey folks, had a problem crop up today and wondering if there's anymore troubleshooting I can do or if I just need to wait till we get home. TLDR details:

- 2 hour drive this morning for family vacation.
- Stuttering, hesitation crops up around 1900-2400 RPM. True for all modes.
- Get into this small WV town and none of the auto shops have mechanics working today, but one guy did pop the OBD on--cylinder 4 misfire.
- No one in this town has the Denso IKH24s that I'm running (but I don't have the JB4 in).

I know it could be the coil pack, but I think that's unlikely given the way these cars eat plugs. Someone tell me if that conclusion is wildly inaccurate. I mean, I guess I can go back to Advance and get a coil, but seemed like a waste.

Beyond that, I think all I can do while here is check the grounding?

More details: We're about 2 hours away from DC in a small town in WV. I'm not sure how long the hesitation has been there, since we rarely get into the throttle hard while driving around DC, but it was definitely present today on the highway. As we came into town, I held it just a little longer in that range and got a CEL and limp mode for my trouble (now I understand the car likely shut off the cylinder cause I held it there too long; returned to its pre-limp-mode state after restarting). I stopped at the tire place I always go to and they didn't have a mechanic and sent me down the street. The next place was closing, but had a guy with an OBD reader who took a few minutes before heading home to help me out, so that why I know it's a cylinder 4 misfire. Neither of the two auto parts stores in town had the Densos and of course what I could get Amazon to deliver overnight at home would take until Wednesday to get here. Makes me crazy--we're at a cabin where I have a bunch of tools and cylinder 4 is easy so if I had the damn plug I could just fix it, but alas...

Anyway, I've got an appointment with the dealer in a week for a regular service and, given the holiday, I just don't think there's much more for me to do other than drive the car gently until then, unless anyone else has suggestions. Open to them though--thanks in advance!

Drive like a grandpa (no turbo engaging) until you can replace the coil pack and boot (combined as a single item). Cylinder Six was my compromised cylinder. Three plugs later, and a coil pack/boot replacement, I am not experiencing cracked plugs or seeing the CEL: it's been over three months now. The two previous plugs both got trashed c. two weeks in because of the bad coil pack/boot.

Yeah, I finally tracked down an NGK that appears to be the same plug but with a different name, so I'll be able to pick that up tomorrow and get it installed. Should be enough so that I can not worry about it on the drive back, and give me time to order and get an exact match at home.

for the future, you can determine if it's the coil pack or the plug that's the problem by swapping the plug with one from another cylinder. If the misfire moves its the plug. If it doesn't its the coil pack. If you end up with 2 misfires its a bad coil pack destroying plugs.

yeah, best bet is simply plug failed. I have a single plug if you need one. (I keep a spare for just such reasons ;) LMK.
