Does anyone know if the wide black trim on the roof near the sunroof can be replaced? Any thoughts on what it would be called to try and find the part number? I wasn't sure how to upload a picture, so here's a link to X that shows what I'm looking for.

Thanks.

What is wrong with yours? I've never heard of anyone needing to replace one of those.

It appears that 50009724 is the LH side, and 50009728 is the RH side - looking at used parts on eBay. You can always go through the dealer to be 100% sure.

OP's molding pieces are not those painted "drip rails", at least not in the picture provided, they are the black glass borders on the left and right of the sunroof.

They are faded and discolored. I use a black trim restorer that makes them look better for a short time.

This is very strange. Quite a few complaints about the rain gutters "drip rails" between the sunroof and hatch have been shared over the years on the forum. But to my knowledge, this is the only case of those border moldings/panels, that look like black glass on my car, getting "faded and discolored". Mine are so shiny that I just assumed all this time that they are glass.

The ones on my son's '23 are pristine. My daughter's '20 are faded and discolored. I can make them look better with black trim restorer, but that fades/washes off. I've tried cleaning them, but it didn't really help.

What do you suppose caused this fading and discoloring? And have you ever run across another case of this?

We bought the car used in 2021. It was like that when we got it. It's a Florida car, so I assume sunlight caused it, but it could have been something the previous owner did. It's a really good question, and I don't really have a good answer or way to really fix it other than replace them.

This conversation has been informative. It sounds like the pieces are piano black like the other trim pieces, but they don't look like the other piano black pieces, they look like black glass. Unless they fade and discolor, of course.

The one's on my sons car are piano black and shiny. They look really nice, but the car is less than a year old.

I'm confused about the pieces were talking about, if your referring to these they are plastic and mine were replaced PXL_20241011_203942105.MP~2.webp

Yes, those are what I am looking for. I've got the part number now, and I'm going to order a new set.

Yes there just plastic use a plastic pry tool and lift up from the side closet to the door then pull outward to remove velcro and clips the dealer could supply you with a part number just make sure it's for that specific piece.
Maby you qualify for warranty replacement depending on your mileage 60,000 for the body I believe

The car has less than 60k, so I will look in to that before I order a set. Thanks for pointing that out.
