Another solid review , he summarizes at about 15:00 mark

He obviously likes the Stinger, but he really never compares it to Mercedes, BMW or Audi, except to mention the price. Which, by the way, at 41,000 pounds, works out to about $55,000 US - quite a bit pricier than here in the states. And he seems like just another owner who is embarrassed by the Kia brand and wants to re-badge the car.

I think that's debatable. The stinger seems to be having a lot of 1st year issues. Paint chips, peeling leather and several other bugs. I was impressed with the Stinger, though. I just bought a 2018 Audi A5. I couldn't be more pleased.

it might take a certain degree of risk or bravery or even vision to buy a first year offering , but it takes no balls to follow the herd ......................see ya !!

Don't be jealous and Don't be all smug. You're driving a Kia :P

Seriously, though, I can't be running my car to the shop all the time because I travel for my job a lot. I like the paint and leather to stay where it is meant to stay, too.

.................after 9 BMWs I'm in a pretty objective postion , I probably have the 1st GT in North America ..............no issues .........now go back to the herd !

Glad you are happy with your Audi. 2.0T just doesn't do it for me. No problems whatsoever with my Scarlet O'Hara. And her TTs are beautiful ... especially in the rain!!!:geek::)Screenshot_20180521-163028_Photos.webp

I drove the A5 at the stinger event, nice car and all but it was not even comparable performance wise to the stinger. Not sure why it was there tbh. S5 would have been more comparable.

As far as issues with the stinger, I travel alot, I've put 12k miles on my stinger in the first 3.5 months and I've had absolutely zero issues.

There is a reason Kia has been 1st for the past 2 years in the JD power initial quality study. Followed by Genesis, then Porsche. So no one is "running to the shop all the time" lmao

Coming from a family of Audi and BMW's, including two different A5s... hope you got a decent discount for that color option. Brown leather and wood trim... kinda unique.

A5 is a solid all around car and definitely is a notch above when it comes to interior luxury. Stinger to me is about on par with the previous generation A5 interior, maybe an ever so slight touch better. The difference is the performance side of it. A5 going against a stinger gt with someone who cares about performance it isn't really question then, it should be compared to the S5. That being said the S5 can price itself out of Stinger territory very very quickly.

I think the more interesting debate is A5 vs stinger 2.0 premium. You can get pretty good deals on A5s, and pretty good deals on Stinger 2.0t. Sure the A5 would be the better performer, better interior, and would handle better, but stinger gives more passenger and cargo space. I might still lean towards the stinger from the looks department just because I don't particularly like what audi did to their grilles, oddly shaped but that's just a personal preference.

The A5 Sportback has decent power and more than the Stinger 2.0T however, for the cost, the Stinger GT is a a better buy. Everyone's experience is different so even if a number of forum member have some issues, it is not indicative of the entire vehicle line. First year vehicles are notorious for having teething issues but the things so far with this car are minor. My 2000 A4 had the ECU fail right after I drove it home, the replaced it a few days later and I kept driving it for 73K miles in 2 years until it developed a leak in the power steering system and cooling system. Was going to be $8k to fix it at dealer prices, I ended up trading it. The warranty was up so it was going to be on me to fix, love the better warranty on the KIA.

I'm on my 3rd Optima hybrid and 2 of them were "1st Gen", the 2012 was their first and it was setup to drive in EV mode up to 25 mph before turning on the engines, after customer complaints, they reprogrammed the system and the car became a better car and it improved the driving performance as well. On my 2017 I haven't had any major problems with the vehicle in about 2 years and 20K miles. My buddy's 2012 hybrid has over 110K miles and he drives that car hard, only thing that has been done with it was a suspension change when one of the springs broke over 100K when he hit a rut. This is one of the reason I keep sticking with KIA and am looking forward to my next one.

All that being said, you have to go with what works for you. I dove the Stinger 2.0T after driving the 3.3T so it didn't feel like much and it was noisier to me. I then went to Audi and drove the A5 Sportback, felt nice but the noise level was about similar with the exception of the road noise as the tires on the Stinger 2.0T are loud. The wife said the Audi would be her pick over the Stinger. I let her drive the Stinger another day and had her pay attention to the road noise and she prefers the Stinger but figures the Audi would be better because it's a luxury car. I had her price up the Audi online with the options she would like on the car and I picked the maxed out Stinger GT2. She then agreed that it was too expensive for being a smaller car with less power so the Stinger is the top car on our list for the next car.

I have had 1 problem... the speakers fading from middle to the back. BUT...that has only happened a few times. That's it for me! I love my car!!

The deal with a car specific website is that you'll hear everything. Good and bad. So it's tempting to see the complaints and think that all of them are that way. Not usually the case.

In the end, you'll look for validation as to why you want or don't want a specific thing (an awesome car in this instance).
