Best performance car under AUD $60,000 (with a hatch)

here the video for the article. not surprised they liked the civic r best. not surprised they liked the focus rs either. it is definitely a strange comparison because the stinger certainly doesn't focus on performance as it's primary goal. it's a gt not a boy racer.

I guess this is back to the debate in the other thread about competitive models. I don’t consider any small FWD cars to be competitive, especially not just because they have a hatch.

Yeah, these are such completely different cars. As @Bamm1 mentioned, it's an odd comparison. Even the Stinger coupe, whenever it shows up, is not going to be anything like a Ford Focus RS, Volkswagen GTI, or Honda Civic Type R. One car offers high performance in a comfortable environment. The others do not (unless you consider that comfortable - which is fine by me).

Actually, the Golf R/GTI are known for having exceptional ride quality relative to other hot hatches. They also have surprisingly nice interiors. They're generally well-rounded cars, achieving a healthy balance of performance, comfort, and utility.

Of course, the Stinger is considerably larger than these compact hatches, and that's the main reason they're in different classes. The guy in the video admitted that he was comparing a sport sedan with hot hatches. The only criteria were "performance cars" and "under 60k" (AUD, I assume).

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Yes, Volkswagen is a notch up over Ford and Honda when it comes to interior quality. I haven't test driven these cars so I don't know what they feel like but I'm sure the GTI is on the firm side where the Stinger is going to be much softer. Not "soft" - but noticeably softer...
