Planning a road trip and I'll have time to not rush from point to point this trip.

Anyone have advice on some of the best driving roads in the North East?

This trip I'll be between Washington D.C. > Albany NY > Utica, NY > Ithaca NY then back near D.C. coming back through PA.

I'd love to start building some saved routes in google maps of great roads to enjoy a spirited drive on even if they are out of my way this trip. I've searched around but most of what I've found are vague references to direct folks from New York City where to go to see the fall leaves... I'm more looking for a fun drive but a great view is well worth the trip as well.

The Taconic State Parkway from NYC to Albany is always a lovely drive ... especially in the Fall.

Thanks for the tip! You can look at a map all day long but still not really know whats worth driving and whats not.

That even sends me in the right direction.

Going a bit out of your way to further north on 87 (the Northway, toll free above Albany) to the Adirondacks and/or over to VT would also be advisable for scenic views, esp. in the fall. Map in some craft breweries!

Edited to add: Scenic Drives You Can Take to Explore New York Close To Home

Great idea :) I am a huge fan of craft beer. I grew up in the Utica NY area and a very close friend up there works for Ithaca Brewery, Flower Power is by far my favorite beer. Wish I could set a notification system on my phone "Alert me when I come with in 7 miles of a brewery"

Cool! I have a close friend from Utica who lives in Saratoga now and brews his own and bakes killer bread. Flower Power has to be in my top....er, 38 IPAs....;)
Beer and driving, what's not to like....

Love Saratoga! Spent a lot of time there during my college years. SPAC is where I attended the first Lollapalooza!

Lollapalooza ain't jazz! I trust you've upped your game;)

Oh, I have very broad tastes. Have lots of jazz on vinyl (and access to even more via Amazon Music Unlimited). I tend to listen to jazz more at home where I can relax and focus. In the car, I prefer tunes that make me want to drive fast.

Cool! I suggest, if you're not familiar, mid-80s electric trio headed by Bill Connors (Assembler, Step It, and Double Up) for fusion driving music. As well as Tribal Tech (Scott Henderson and Gary Willis) 80-90s killer fusion stuff, esp., the self titled CD, Nomad, Face First, Illicit, and Reality Check. (TRIBAL TECH discography and reviews)

The Connors 80s stuff ain't on Prime Music (I've requested it!) yet. But his late 90s release, Return, is on there and is swinging!
Sorry to be pushy! But let me know if you're familiar or not!

Definitely familiar with Assembler (though do not own). I'll have to look to see what is out there.
