Car only has 28k miles, no upgrades yet and no street racing regularly done. The AWD SML came on a while back ago like at 22k miles and disappeared once the car was turned off and turned back on didn't come back till now at 27,676 miles. The light turns off 100% percent of the time once I restart the car there is no telling when it comes back on, maybe like every 100 or so miles but when it does turn on its within five minutes of starting the car up and driving. The car drives great regardless. Ive used my own OBDii scanner and one from local Autozone but apparently ours only read engine codes so nothing comes up. If I take it to the dealer I know that if I tell them to scan it immediately theyll be stupid enough to ignore that and turn off the car and the code will disappear. My only hope is these AWD codes are stored in the memory. Anyone with advice or similar experience please share to help me understand. tempImagepFKXZC.webp

Take you and your 6.7 mpg straight to the dealer lol. Maybe find a better dealer also? I had bad luck with one and have a great one now.
Lol the mpg. I haven't driven it much lately working from home and haven't driven at all for a whole week because of the snow storm we had here in Texas. that's probably why its so low. I appreciate the advice.

That is the lowest mpg I've ever seen for a Stinger. You really have to "try" to get it under 14 mpg; lots of idling, kickdown switch starts from every light; drive above 5K RPM, etc. :D

I've never seen that AWD warning icon before. If I go check the manual I'm sure I'll see it, now that I know what to look for. As long as everything works, I would just be keeping my Kia service guys in the know, and be ready. If AWD quits, I reckon that means power goes to the rear wheels only, since this car is RWD biased. People do that all the time deliberately: either by pulling the fuse to the front wheels, or by having a GTS special edition (Orange or Indigo) D-AWD transmission set in launch control mode.

Honestly that's not even the lowest I've had it. When Covid first started and I did the work from home and didn't move the car but to the grocery store down the street and back like 2 times it got down to 3.2mpg. I think it just goes down after sitting a while and driving short distances, if I get on the highway and drive for 20-30min it shoots up to 20mpg pretty quickly and gradually goes up the longer the drive.

@Y33H4WW I just realized what your handle means: Yee Haw! :D Are you from Texas or where? That would be a really cool license plate: Y33H4W Almost as cool as Y00TAW. :D

Oh, now that is so calendar worthy. I saved it to my calendar pics options folder. :D (thanks for the nice, large file size. )

I'm having this same issue. I see the light every other day or so and like you mentioned if I restart the car it goes away for a bit but will eventually return. Haven't noticed any difference in driving.

Anyone know what the problem is ? Same thing happens to my stinger

what needs resolving? has anything happened to the awd system because this (double tie fighter) icon comes on and goes away?

Just started getting this light, But it pops up in 2 or 3 blocks. Goes away after restart then pops back on and just happens to be after changing out the differential fluid at almost 70k so im assuming thats a start for others.

Ive redone it multiple times different oils75w90, replaced the fuse... im also kinda hearing it more then ever and feel it in the pedal so ive been trying to figure it out myself lol seems like the issue for me is coming from the front

No clue why mine is. But after multiple visits in the span of 5 months to service department, my transfer case is finally getting replaced

has your awd warning light been on all this time? did anything happen other than the light? kia is replacing the transfer case because of a warning light, is that all?

It comes on after driving normal and getting to at least 3rd gear. It was a sometimes light, but now it comes on all the time. When the light comes on the awd is not functioning. It is giving codes but I don't remember what they were.
