Hello all,

I’ve noticed that the annoying auto start stop appears to be jarring my transmission pretty bad and I’m worried about damaging it. I drive a 2019 Stinger GT2 with 2382 miles on it, and sometimes when the auto start stop is on, when you let off the brake and the engine starts back up, the transmission violently enters gear and shudders the entire vehicle. I have some theories, such as entering sport mode, then going back to comfort mode, then stopping (maybe the auto start stop feature stores some sort of code for when you switch modes but doesnt know when to switch back?), but I’m also fearing some sort of defect.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had this happen a few times. I cringe everytime, but I haven't had a chance to bring it up to the dealer.

Nope. If you're barely on the brake when it engages, it will move a little, but I've never had it do anything like what you describe.

If it's reproducible, I'd get it checked out.

Ok I guess I’ll bite the bullet and have it inspected at my first service. I’ll share here when I get to it.

This happens to me when Im on a hill. I always make a point of not putting my foot on the gas immediately after I release the brake pedal when im going uphill and the engine is off. Too many times when the car restarts and I have my foot on the gas, it seems to slam into gear. Probably not good.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
TAKE IT IN NOW. Failing that, keep ISG disabled until you can bring it in.

Read my thread here: 3.3TT - Idle Stop Go: Start/Stop Malfunction

I'll find out what's going on at some point. No word yet from my dealership.

So this slamming into gear feeling is way more intense than an ISG that just feels like you're turning your engine on?

Asking because when ISG disengages it shakes the car but similar shaking as a regular engine turn on.

The slamming into gear feeling is something that would cause a person not to buy the car on a test drive. The car lurches forward hard and it feels like a neutral drop is the best way to describe it. Unpleasant.
