Took me about 3hours to install the kit. If you have access to the lift should not take you more than hour. All bolts are open, no need to remove anything else. Was it worth it? The way i drive( highway driving), probably not.
Like i sad, i am really not a person to say if it is working or not. I guess the reason i instaled mine was because i saw the same pictures you are referring to. Yes there's i gap between the bolt and subframe. And now that i am thinking about it. Maybe the better way to "feel" if it makes any difference is to remove the kit. Usually you are lot more sensitive to downgrading than upgrading. But i am not doing it.
This is probably a down the road issue you're just eliminating IMO, I doubt any of our cars subframes have shifted after only a couple years. I don't know that the handling is better, but the car feels a lot better. Feels less cheap, that was my biggest notice after install. Also, my first alignment after getting them installed was dead on, so maybe it helped a bit?
Install is easy though, you can do it without an impact but I wouldn't suggest it.
I have these installed. They do make a difference in terms of how the car rides - however it probably won't be a huge difference if you already have sways installed. But I still like it and can notice on day to day driving.
1) The car oddly felt more like a luxury car to me with them installed because when you go over bumps and uneven surfaces, it no longer feels disjointed. Everything feels like its working together now, which is great. At first I was like "hmmm, this luxury feeling makes the car feel less sporty," but actually I would say it makes the car feel more buttoned down/more German by increasing the comfort via rigidity.
2) Additionally it helps get rid of the rear-end hop like 95% percent. The sway bars took that away I would say about 85-90%, but now its virtually unnoticeable.
A big reason I got it too was my alignment would frequently go out of spec because of all the bumps in NYC roads, so hoping it will help with less frequent alignments
