Are you going to tint your windows?

In California its 4 inchs at the top of windshield (illegal to do the entire thing)
and the driver/passenger are now 70% transmittance (I remember reading they were illegal back in '13 when I last did tints .. Good thing they changed it!)
back windows and rear = Any. (but too dark = hard to drive at night for reversing .. but I guess its okay bc backup cameras)
I honestly have 5% transmittance on my FR-S and its very nice bc nighttime driving most cars behind me have the lights at my eye level. Having my sides at 35% is also nice for the fronts because side mirror because headlights from behind also shines into there.

It shouldn't be a big problem for the Stinger because its not as low .. but still I think all cars should have tints for a little more privacy and aesthetics .. and the not so really important UV protection but lets add the "health=promoting" marketing pitch for tints ~
I agree, all cars tend to look better with some kind of tint on the windows. I haven't had a car without tint since my first car. Every so often if/when I get a rental car with no tint, I get a lot of that annoying headlight glare at night - making driving difficult in certain situations. Tint is a requirement for me...

The rear visibility is not that good, shape-wise and my stinger came with auto dimming rear view mirror - so I actually wouldn't mind going darker than 30% I currently have since I can't see anything out the rear anyway. The rear parking sensor and camera is quite decent, so the tint didn't affect parking maneuvers as much as I expected. I'm just not used to dark windows tint, i'll get used to my tints eventually.

All 4 side windows + the 2 rear quarters & rear hatch glass in darkest legal 35% (NSW Aus - please correct me if incorrect %). It is illegal to apply tint to the windscreen in NSW.
Incorrect i believe. Must not be more than 10% of top front wind screen, according to the policeman who pulled me over.

Who plans to tint their windows? Or who already has? What are your plans? Very dark? Light? What percentage will you use and what is the legal limit in your area? I usually go 20% but I used to do 5%. I do this for each window all around the car and 50% on the windshield.
I had the windows tinted on my G8 GT (front and rear doors, and back glass, limo tint) and limo tint on the front doors on my Avalanche to match the rears. I've been pulled over twice for it here in upstate NY. I got out of it both times...thank God. The first time, I had literally JUST picked up my G8 from the tint shop. I got a mile away and a sheriff pulled me over. I couldn't even put the windows down when he pulled me over because it would have ruined the tint. I opened the sunroof and opened the driver's side door and put my hands on the wheel. I told him i JUST picked it up. He admitted that it looked awesome and asked how much I just dropped on it to get the tint done. It was close to $400. He said he'd feel bad giving me a ticket on the same day I had it done, especially with the money I just spent and he let me go. The second time I got pulled over by a cop in a neighboring town. I told my kid "No way I'm getting out of this one. Cops in this town are notorious @$$holes." I put my window down and the cop ended up being a friend of mine I haven't seen in years. Of course he let me go and my kid just shook his head in amazement. He looked at me and goes "You really do have friends everywhere, don't you?!" There is a running joke in my family that I know a LOT of people...so it was fitting I knew the cop.

Long story short, I probably won't be tinting the windows in the Stinger. Just for the fact that I don't want to roll my front windows down every time I see a cop or whenever I'm driving on the highway approaching a turn around where the police sit. As good as it looks, I just don't want to deal with it. PLUS, now cars in NY state will not pass inspection with tint on the front windows. They put a meter on the windows and if it detects tint, it automatically fails the car.

Hmm. You can get around those New York State Inspections like ya used to, huh? :p In any event, this is what sunroofs are for. In the day time, just open the sunroof and let that sun pour in. Your tint will look like the lightest, legal percentage you can get. At night, turn on the interior dome light. I know, it's a pain in the butt - but at least you still get your privacy 99.99% percent of your driving time. This has always worked for me...

But man! That time right after getting the tint installed on the G8... Jeez. At least he let you go...

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I get that the inspection thing would be a problem, but why not get the windows tinted to the legal limit instead of way beyond the legal limit? I'm in MD and I've always gotten a legal tint and never once been stopped for it.

Edit: VV ah that stinks. I think it's like 30-35% here which seems perfect for keeping the sun down without hindering ability to see at night.

Depending on where you live, the legal limit is "might as well not have any". :p
