I had my friend installed a second-hand JB4 for me today, and after it was installed, I realized I couldn't connect due to the previous owner didn't un-register the Bluetooth device from their account (Alert 36, already contacted jb4support for it). We left the wires and everything plugged in thinking it would just run on stock since I am not even connected to it.

I left, and everything went okay....until I started accelerating both in comfort and sports mode and It would make this weird sound in interval whenever it goes past 3000 rpm regardless of mph. We popped the hood, and everything seems to be okay, no engine lights, everything plugged in fine. My friend thinks it's chugging due to a wastegates control issue. I plugged out the JB4 in the OBD port but the issue still persist.

Any idea of what this is and what is causing it?

FYI - The only mod I have is an Injen intake and new HKS sparkplugs that we installed a couple of weeks back with no issue so we don't think that's the problem.

Unplug everything and back to stock then go from there.

EWG problem, your wastegate stay open.

Having the same problem! Disconnected JB4 but this still happens intermittently. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks!

Maybe the JB4 is programmed wrong. Sound like a Turbo Problem, when getting over 3000. Did the Turboloader Tube maybe become loose?
Sound like it's trying to charge up but cant pass it to the motor.
One of the 2 Turbos kicks in first and then the second one delayed after 3000/4000 RPM I think. Identifying the issue remote is hard, you would need to bring it into a shop and Dyno it for Performance.

It's in the shop now. They said it's a catalytic converter issue. Not sure if that's the problem but I guess we'll see!

I had the same issue. the previous dude had it on map 2. once I gained access the next day it went back to normal.

Did you change your spark plugs? It could have melted one and it went through the exhaust.
just saw this. yeah, I changed them! it was pretty weird at first. I didn't have access to the jb4 just yet and it was running on map 2. was just a weird moment idk lol

Noticed recently after a long road trip I’m getting a noise very similar to this when accelerating.

It’s not every time. But i seem to notice it more if I accelerate at like 60-70% throttle more than WOT.

The noise mine makes is similar but with little bit quicker intervals of that “chugging” or whatever you’d call it.

SXTH stage 2 ECU+ Stage 1 TCU. HKS sparks just put in within the last month. Injen intakes.

Stock exhaust atm but should be making some changes within the next month or so.

Any ideas what’s causing it? I have a log pull from the last time it made this noise if that helps.

I know on the SXTH site it says stage 2 requires “high flow cats” and I have just the stock. I was told by SXTH support that stock is fine I just can’t use the pop tune (which I don’t want).
