Any way to disable this aftermarket LED lighting kit?

So I'm the new owner of a CPO 2023 GT2 and noticed as I was driving in the evening that the previous owner installed what appears to be an aftermarket lighting kit in the foot wells.

It's kind of annoying because it flows between all the colors, and I've noticed it's on at all times. Is there any way to disable/disconnect this and/or changing it back to the stock constant white color. I attached a couple pictures. (I'm not sure why the pictures are uploading upside down)

Thanks in advance!

Well, I highly doubt anyone on here is familiar with this particular light or how it was installed, so your best bet is going to be figuring out where the wires are running to and just taking the whole thing out.

Thanks. I don't have the slightest clue when it comes to things like this. Would this be running somewhere specifically? Anything I need to do before I got hunting it down

I'll bet it just runs to the fuse box next to your left knee, honestly. They could have run it through the grommet into the engine bay to tap a fuse in there, or posi-tapped a wire somewhere, potentially. You might take a picture of both fuse boxes so we can see if there is anything running in there. It shouldn't be too complicated.
You could maybe just pull the light off and kind of tug on the wires to see where they run.

I know why your pics loaded upside down. your camera took them that way, you rotated them, but the forum uploader doesn't read the rotate and displays them the original orientation. if you want them to display here right side up you have to change the size of the pics after they are rotated. just a tiny amount of cropping will accomplish it.

as for the ambience light bar, lose it, that is so tacky.

Open the small fuse box down there in the same area. Look for a piggyback fuse he/she used to wire it in, probably look like this:

If you pull the piggyback fuse and just put the correct sized fuse back in place without the piggyback you should return to normal, than you just need to follow that wiring to the stupid light and remove it all.

Tip: the inside of the fuse door youll need to open will have a fuse diagram indicating the correct fuse size for factory so you know which size to put in where the piggy back was.

Thank you for this! I was wondering what fuse I would need to add back to get the stock lighting working again. I'm afraid I'll have to pop the dash open to fish the wires to get all the aftermarket stuff out. There's a light bar/strip on the passenger side too.

Looks like the piggyback fuse was plugged in right below the stock fuse, all I did was disconnect it and hid the wire in the fuse box area, covered it back up, and it's as good as new the stock white light appears to be on but fairly dim (assuming that's normal). Going to go on a drive once the sun goes down to see how it looks. Now I just wish the stock ambient lighting was a little brighter.

Yes, the footwell lighting is relatively dim. You can go into your ambient lighting settings on your screen to change colors as well as select/deselect a checkbox for dimming the ambient lighting.

FWIW, these LED strip lights quite often come with a wireless controller that can change the lighting modes and intensity. Without it, the mode probably got stuck in the default or last set mode. You might try looking around the glove compartment or storage bins to see if the previous owner had left it somewhere. Many of them are also bluetooth enabled, so if you can identify the brand (see below example), you might be able to download the app and pair with the controller. Do a search for "automotive strip LED" and you'll find a gazillion of them.

My teenager has been pestering me to install these aftermarket kits, because the stock ambient lighting is not cool enough. I'm ambivalent about it but will eventually do it just so she has something else to go ooh-aah over.

Yeah one of the first things I did was look around the car for a controller, but no luck unfortunately. Also I figured the previous owner controlled it from his phone via Bluetooth or something, but I wasn't sure how to easily figure out which application/brand it was for. The alternating lights was really tacky, so I figured the easiest thing to do was to just disconnect it from the fuse box.

They tend to be tacky in general. If you could do a good match with the color of the factory ambient lighting, it could be okay. I'm glad you decided to turn them off. Did you take them out entirely, though?

I did not remove them, just unplugged from the fuse box. From the looks of it, it seems I'll need to disassemble the dashboard trim to fish it out, especially the one ran to the passenger footwell.

Geez, they really committed to it, huh? Haha. You could always find the wire on the driver side that runs to the passenger side and cut it and just pull it through. If you care, that is.
