Any interior fabricators / companies who could develop this?

Vent pods. Our left drivers vent is positioned perfectly to house a boost gauge. I had one in my Golf R, my MS3, and my audi s4. Wondering if we can drum up enough interest in one to entice someone to make them!

picture is the a pod for the golf r. The gauge would obviously look different. boost_gauge_installed_mk7_golf_lhd_52mm_30psi_30inhg_red_white.webp

Or like this - OLED screen, touch-sensitive to change display if I recall correctly (or maybe it was programmed with a serial interface, I don't recall):

My car came with a boost gauge built in and the JB4 app shows boost as well in the APP. :D

The VBG could be programmed to show a number of things, oil temps, coolant temp, boost, boost profile over time, etc. It was very flexible. Alas, I don't think the company who made them exist any more.

I just don't think you'll find a lot of people wanting this. Again all of this you can see in the jb4 app and it would be using the ODB2. For this to work you would need to plug into the ODB2 and if you have a JB4 you can't. Also GT2 already has Oil Temp, Tourq and Boost guages on the info screen. and all GT's have coolant temp.

It would only be a product for those not already using the ODB2 for something else and then that would be most people not doing performance upgrades and they don't care about that information. Those that want that info are doing performance upgrade and already have that information another way.

I'm aware that you can see it in the jb4, but I think you'd be surprised how many people would prefer a mechanical boost gauge in a pod like this over the ECU boost readings you get on the jb4 or the "boost gauge" built into our displays. The golf R and the Audi s4 I owned both had a similar built in boost gauge, and the jb4 makes the same unit we have, for both vehicles, and yet the product I am suggesting is very popular.

Actually, the VBG didn't read anything from OBD2 at all - it was all its own sensors (voltage from the power feed it got, boost/vacuum by t-ing in to an existing line, direct oil sensors, etc. Exactly the same way as any other gauge grabbed that data.

It was used in a community where OBD2 connectivity was heavily used for a variety of things - as an alternative. Some people don't want to rely on OBD2 for this data - those are the people who buy separate gauges.

I don't see the gauge manufacturers packing up business saying "Damn, JB4 and things like it are collapsing our market" any time soon...

Is that the Subaru VBG? I had the precursor - gtdigboost20 - on my '05 LGT, which worked quite well, but finally started dying earlier this year.

IIRC, the VBG was pretty flaky, and they were dying every few years and since the company closed shop, there were no replacements. I hear it was awesome when it ran, though.

That's the one. The later revisions were better, but yes, they could be flakey at times apparently. I had one for my Liberty, sold it to a mate with a ~300kW ATW (400hp) Liberty to have fun with.

I remember Aeroforce Interceptors...I had 2 back in the day. They read through OBD-II, were quite handy at the time.
