Any benefit to greater then 93 on stock car?

For those of you that have data logged WOT pulls, is there any spark knock with 93 octane on a factory stock car?

Looking to maybe get a few 1/4 mile passes in and don’t have a way to data log yet. Just curious what it’s doing stock, and if I could save a few degrees of timing being pulled out with a splash of 100 octane

The short answer is that it depends. The medium answer is that it depends on ambient temperature a lot more than people realize but premium fuel isn’t as necessary as most people think specifically with a RWD Stinger GT2.

The long answer will come in a later post. I don’t have data logs to show knock. However, I do have dragy timed runs that show you can run the same 0-60 times all day long with 87 octane as with 93 Octane in a RWD stock Stinger.

Let me collect a little more data and then I will do a full post about it. In the meantime as long as it is cool out I am willing to bet that a stock Stinger won’t show any differences in performance whether it is using 87 Octane or 93 Octane.

Once you mod it all bets are off but fully stock this car does not seem to be pushing the limits enough to warrant 93 Octane in cooler temps.
