You read my mind! Was just thinking about this earlier today. I wonder if there is a way to do this (or to get a similar effect) without replacing the entire headlight?
How do you feel about sticking your headlight in an oven?
I’ve not looked at our headlights that closely to know if this will work.
There is an old trick to modifying headlights. Esentially you need to separate the body of he headlight from the lens that it attached usually with some form of silicone.
You stick the headlight in a 200 degree oven for a bit, enough time to soften the silicone but not melt the plastic. Then pry the two apart. Make whatever modification you want. Run a bead of silicone around the edge and seal them back up.
and they want to look like ours :I love the other countries headlights that have the white reflector/accent
It looks so much sleeker. been browsing ebay for some oem headlights.
anyone else thinking this?
Can we just do a straight trade with people oversea who had the white reflector and want to trade for the amber reflector. Of course each person would be responsible for their own shipping cost.
And be without headlights for 5-10 days.
Not the turn signals.AFAIK, Amber front turn signals are required to be street legal in most states. You guys would be doing it At Your Own Risk(tm)
Yep, the turn signals.n
Not the turn signals.
I think we may be miscommunicatingYep, the turn signals.
FMVSS 108 (as of 1968) requires front and side turn signals to be Amber-colored.
...so where is the amber reflector going to go, then?I think we may be miscommunicating
the side amber accents that are white on other models in other countries. they can be white on our stingers legally as long as we have an amber reflector somewhere near the front bumper or headlight. porsche, and beamers have all white headlights with tiny little amber accents separate from the car
