Android Auto - Steering wheel phone buttons not working

The steering wheel phone buttons have stopped working with Android Auto (AA). They have worked in the past and still work with the phone connected through bluetooth. I could launch the phone menu and hang up with them while in AA in the past

I have restarted my phone, but it didn't fix the problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Any recommendations?

I would first try a different phone and if the same result, then it's the car.

Of course many people don't have backup phones sitting around, but perhaps a friend?

I noticed the same thing yesterday. Could be an Android auto bug?

Same thing for me today. Cant use the call or emd call button while in android auto. I wonder if andriod auto pushed an update that screwed it up.

Sorry to hear others having same issue. Although I am relieved it isn't specific to my car......Hopefully, android fixes it soon.....

When i used AA in other cars, i had to manually clear cache and data for AA on my phone because stuff just broke and refused to work.

no problems for me, but i think i saw something regarding an update and samsung phones

This was all fixed in a update a couple days after the issues happened.
