Only have 1300 miles. I had literally nothing in my car. Haven’t even tinted the windows yet so they could see there was nothing. They opened the rear seat to look in the back, but nothing in my trunk at all.. People these days..

I'd have thought front and rear windscreen were more expensive due to inclusions in them (rear demister, sensors in the front windscreen, etc).

Still not cheap though. And a rotten thing for someone to do, clearly no respect for other people or their property (sadly, lack of basic respect is far too common these days). Not that this sort of thing is new - we had something similar done to a family car back in the 1990s when the family had gone canyoning in the Blue Mountains - every car at the top of the canyon was done in the same fashion, lots of miscellaneous stuff stolen (the damage far outweighed the worth of what was taken).

Second one I've heard of on here.

ouch the most expensive piece of glass on your car!
You mean square inches of glass per dollar, surely. Because the windshield is just out there.

the windshield will be the cheapest then the back glass then the doors last and most expensive vent windows or quarter glass on cars.. why? because they produce less of those and more of the rest due to the fact you are more likely to take a rock to the windshield than a break in involving the vent glass, its sad but true (I do auto glass for a living) also take into consideration how the amount of stingers on the road vs other makes and models drives the price up too.

Not that bad actually..
$100 dollars ordered from kiapartsnow.com

Windshield shows $471 for base GT models

How do the rest of us reconcile this? Obviously these assessments do not agree.

How does a base GT windshield differ from at GT1? Or is there a difference? Somewhere, I got the impression that replacing a windshield on my car would be in excess of $2K!?

base GT has only a humidity sensor on it, GT1 I don't remember what sensor is added, and GT2 has drive assist which all mounts to the windshield requiring specific patterns cut out so the sensors all work properly (the triangle shape and circular shape are all sensors), and as far as that part wow that is a great deal, keep in mind I assumed he would be taking it in to be worked on so a lot of that pricing goes into a shop ordering and installing, id be interested to see a photo of the part you receive and if you have any questions for a DIY install id be willing to tear my stinger apart to help

Sorry to hear your bad news. :( No-one ever said criminals were smart. At least it makes it easy for the good guys to catch them.
