Hey guys, so after months of cel, rough idle and shaking during stop lights, this all only happened sometimes but was still noticable and an issue. I took my car to the dealer where the diganosed it over 6 days, saying that bank two just drops randomly.

They call me back and tell me that we need to replacd the

CAM Intake Actuator
And Intake Control Valve On Bank 2

Say its $1600 in parts alone, not includimg labor.

Does this sound right?

Update 1
Update so i spoke to the service advisor, I called him at 10am and all he could give me was the part cost but sounded like he wanted me to comit, I told him i need a detailed breakdown with diagnostics, and a full estimate with part numbers. Said he would email it within the hour, 7 hours pass and now hes trying to work on it with the techs and will have it by tomorrow morning.

Seems a little lackluster tbh, What im also hoping is they didnt bill me without my consent, The initial diganostics was for one hour at $275, and he said that all the testing trying to replicate would not be billed only an hour.

Something feels off, but cant be sure until i get part numbers so i can see the part my self.

Any advice or opinions.

I had that, but was just an air leak between the air filter and the turbo, driver side.

You've ruled out bad coil packs? Because that is absolutely the first thing to check when you get rough running and CEL. A bad coil pack means a ruined spark plug very quickly, and of course it's the bad plug or plugs that are causing the stutter under acceleration. But over time the rough running will affect at all throttle demand or idle and your CEL will not go out.

i have had them changed new upgraded packs from lap3. Im waiting on the dealee to send specific steps the techs took to make sure they checked packs etc. Right now although he didnt give me specific parts numbers yet, i havent found anything over $600 on the items he said need to be repaired.

It's easily that price.

I did a search just now at Kia Online Parts in Australia. That's Kia's official website for parts on the limited information you gave

A model, year and engine size would have been helpful. No matter, I searched a My23 Stinger GT. You can try the link yourself and convert the AUD to USD.....

One part seems to be this and it's over $800 RRP.

So take this link. put in your model, ADD vehicle, go to top of page where it says Home and next to it is a magnifying glass. Click the glass and search the part. Let it search and bring up all the variants. I searched Camshaft Actuator and came up with this.

800, sure. Now looking at valves and its around 300 maybe 4.

Still not accounting for the 500$ extra.

Labour charges here are probably about $150 an hour at a dealership so I expect closer to USD$100 an hour.

Diagnosis they probably charge more.

Rule of thumb double the parts price to have it installed. $400 part. $400 to fit.

There may be some other parts they haven't added when they tell you it requires new actuator and valve. There might be gaskets. Seals. Engine Flush. New Oil, Oil Filter. It could be another $500.

$1600 in parts only is what i meant. Not including any labor at all. Still sounds high.

I get it.

That list of parts was up around the AUD$800 mark for one part. You have got part numbers, Try googling those and see what comes up at any other places

Hey man how much did that cost you and what steps did they take to find issue.

So this started happening to me after the turbo coolant line recall work was performed. CELs, stumbling at idle. Dang car sounded like it had a lopey cam. Wasn't boosting well, etc. etc.

Since it happened pretty quick after the recall work, there was no diagnostic or repair fee. I am not sure I could equate diagnostic fees at my dealer to yours, but if it hadn't been covered, I am pretty sure they would want an hour labor.

In the end, I was pretty lucky because it was a loose fitting on my K&N intakes. The tech fixed the loose fitting for free.

Here's a picture of the loose line on my intake (left side of car)

Pcv... some aftermarket kits like K&N include 2 sizes of that barbed plastic, my AEM kit only had 1 and that was too narrow so I had to improvise to stop the vacuum leak .
