ALEXA help….

My wife says she wants Alexa for Christmas? So what the heck do I buy? Is it a specific unit? Please help, thanks…

I think alexa is some form of amazon AI built into some of their devices. Similar to google home/assistant. I got the latter in a BT speaker w/ display last year - jbl link view.

I keep mine (google device) in the bedroom only, camera disabled. Don't trust it in common areas in case its always listening.

There is the echo dot, a small round microphone and speaker, not good sound, but you can add an ext speaker that makes it sound better when you play music. That is probably the most basic one.

But remember, it hears everything. Crap you talk about will show up on your phone as advertisements.
