So I am looking at my first upgrade for my 21 Stinger GT. JB4 tuner. Did a lot of research seems like the best one any opinions? Also wanted to make air intake kit next move but never believed other then a engine growl they change performance or the factory would start making them the way you get them from aftermarket companies. So would just keeping the stock air filter but maybe upgrading the stock filter with a K&N matter or help a little? Or just leave it be? I don’t see how exposing aftermarket filters to the all the heat under the hood helps and dust or dirt flying in there. Shield or no shield there’s a reason the factory fully Encloses it I think. Any thoughts on that?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I started using the JB4 back when it was called the JB+ and then JB3 about 12 years ago. Great product. I’m going to move this discussion to our performance section so you can get more input. I’m glad you found us!

OEM's have fairly strict specifications for sound levels like exhaust and intake. An intake can increase the db's significantly depending on design. A properly designed intake can increase HP and that's more than IMHO, it's science. Some aftermarket manufacturers publish their dyno results as well. I.e. K&N, AEM, Airaid, Etc. Like this chart. I can tell you from experience this specific kit greatly increases the intake and turbo sounds - almost annoyingly. Several have posted that keeping the OE airbox and adding a K&N or similar filter and installing the big mouth scoops does a great job as well. And while I haven't seen anything regarding sound levels, I would expect this setup to be significantly quieter. Either option would be similarly priced.

Tune, intake and muffler upgrade seem to be the the best performance mods for this platform. Then if you have access to ethanol gas, if not meth injection you will have a very performant machine. Downpipes (primaries / secondaries ) are really if you want to push the limites.

Hey I am the Stig, ( Cool name BTW )

The Jb4 and Injen Intakes are some of the best first mods you can get for your GT. I personally believe in the science, testing, and results of the Injen Intakes and would suggest that for your air intake replacement.

Another critical entry modification for the Stinger is an Oil Catch Can. These won't make the car any faster or louder but it will aid in protecting your Stingers engine long term and become more beneficial as you begin to mod your vehicle.

We will actually be hosting our End OF Year Sales Event on our website starting tonight at 5 pm PST at:
www.K8StingerStore.com

This is one of the best times of the year to pick up mods at a great bargain for your vehicle.

If you ever have any questions or need advice on any aftermarket products, feel free to reach out at any time.

Happy Holidays,
Daniel @ K8

BMS intake is a great option that retains the factory airbox bottom for cold air ducting and heat isolation, but removes the restrictive top for top end power and sound.

I leased my GT1 and am not looking to do any major mods but was wondering if it's worth the $100 bucks to replace the OEM air filters with the K&N filters? I'm not expecting any major H.P gains but if it happens to increase airflow and maybe better gas mileage it might be worth it.

Not worth it. And installing those is really no less work than installing a BMS intake which will provide large gains even on factory tuning.

^^^ I agree.

$100 for maybe 10 hp in the higher RPM range. I bought them, my butt dyno says more power. And you keep the stock look. I have no regerts.

Shoot us an email at sales@k8stingerstore.com.

We just shipped out a bunch so it looks like Injen has been able to catch up on their stock but David would be able to give you a much more accurate timeframe if you are looking to purchase one.
