I recently bought an aFe open CAI for my ‘23 2.5T GT-Line. After a couple days of driving, the check engine light came on. I contacted aFe and after about a month they sent me a new tube with a metal insert that sits inside one of the vacuum ports. After installing the new part and a couple days of light driving, the CEL returned. I tried clearing the CEL with a code reader, but the CEL always comes back. This is my daily driver, and I am concerned about my powertrain warranty.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a fix? I’m ready to give up and buy an Injen or just stick with the factory air box. I also installed a Velossa snorkel, but that was after I started having CEL issues with the aFe CAI.

We're really not going to know what the issue is unless you find out what code is coming up with the CEL. For all we know you could have accidentally knocked something loose or off. If you don't have a OBDII code reader, either buy one, or borrow one from an Advance Auto or something like that.

P04F000 is the code. I should have included that in my original post.

Did that over the weekend. So far, so good after replacing the factory intake. I’m 99.9% sure it is an aFe design or manufacturing issue.

I have the 2.5T with a Ingen and BOV for some time now with no issues

I have the aFe CAI on my 2.5 with no issues. Other than ill fitting with the vacuum nipples being too small, I got it to work with no CEL's

The code is P04F000
That's a fuel evap control system code. Shouldn't have anything to do with your intakes. It's possible you might have knocked something loose while installing the intakes.

I would also try disconnecting the battery let it sit for a good 30 mins and have the key away from car a good distance so the ecu resets and relearns. I did that when i got the k&n intakes installed.

But yeah most likely you knocked something loose while installing. Hopefully all is good once you reinstall it. Those vacuum lines definitely double check them once installed.
