Hey there..

For the entirety of the time I had my 2012 Optima SX I used MobilOne 5W-30 Full Synth.

Is this still an acceptable Oil for use in the Stinger with the 3.3L engine? Did I read the specs right that it takes 6.3L of oil for a change?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is one of the oils with an acceptable rating.

There is an oil thread or two on here if you go searching you will find some additional info.
I am surprised of the oils that don't meet the Stinger's required specifications. It is something to definitely be mindful of.

Thank you .. I did do some searching but that specific oil I missed in my searches.. I figured I overlooked it (thank you and sorry for the noise).

You'll be fine running Mobil synthetic much better then running conventional, per the service manual a drain and fill (oil change) is 6.9L or 7.3 quarts. For whatever reason KIA seems to be lagging behind on the synthetic oil train or they just have a conventional fetish

Thanks after finding a couple of different charts and then looking up specs for Mobile One (I don't even remember where I found them now) I found that MobilOne Advanced Full Synthetic met the standards required. Now I'll double check the oil change rotation requirements and I'm off to the races. Thanks again!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Synthetic is not "better" as long as you're changing conventional that meets specs at appropriate intervals.

I had heard that these engines hold about 9 quarts of oil, but a long drain usually only drains +- 7 quarts, so I asked this question (on a different Stinger forum).
A reply from a KIA dealer--- The 3.3L has a NINE quart capacity. Between the oil cooler and the coolant lines in the heads and turbo's, it holds quite a bit.

So it appears quite a bit of oil is left in the system on ALL normal oil drains before we add our oil. This means we are leaving approx 1.5 quarts in the engine, coolers, lines that mixes with the new oil at each change.

This is not a problem as long as no one decides to really stretch the miles into oil changes.

My dealer uses Pennzoil non-synthetic unless I specify synthetic (which I do). He says approx 7.5 quarts is normal refill.
