As most of you know, the bulk of our members get along very nicely. This is one of the most friendly forum communities online.

As most of you also know, there are a VERY FEW people who viciously do not get along with one another. I'm going to say 3 or 4 "couples" that constantly bicker at one another.

I'm going to say this once... Take your personal arguments off the main forum area...

Why? Because nobody but you and the person you're arguing with want to see it.

You have two options:

1. Start a conversation with the person you want to argue with. This allows you to argue back and forth without anyone seeing or even getting involved.

2. Here's the one you're going to love - because you obviously want everyone to watch you belittle the other guy. PROFILE COMMENTS. Visit the other guy's profile and post on it. There, everyone can see how much smarter you are than the other guy. Viewers can even chime in if they want to.

This is going to be the standard procedure for the same arguments that keep happening again and again. I'm not talking about intelligent debate - or arguments that happen once in a blue moon. That's just part of what happens in a community. I'm specifically referring to the same arguments that carry over from one discussion to another. STOP - or you won't post here anymore at all.

I know mods dont have the time, but it would be nice when these things happen if they dont just mass delete stuff. Quite a few times we have lost valuable information.

I would suggest locking threads if they get out of hand until they can be reviewed instead of mass deletion. Warn the people who you believe are going way off topic, arguing or at very least the ones that insult people constantly and then open it back up after its been cleaned up.

If someone is baiting someone to come into a thread (by @ing them or continually talking about them) I would recommend those are the ones that are dealt with.

If we locked the thread then no one can comment anymore with posts that relate to topic, hence the deletions that have occurred. Sal has my 100% support with this one, even i will keep closer tabs on staying on topic but you all may have noticed that already. A few posts is ok but not 2 or more pages. Many newbies dont always get humour from various members and they get turned off. Lets all take this as a wake up call thats good for the whole forum community.

You cant lock then unlock after its reviewed?

Yes but usually when its locked the readers know and dont revisit, at least i dont anyway. Deletions serve to remove the cancer and let the thread get back to normal. You cant keep everyone one happy unfortunately. I see ur point tho, maybe Sal can chime in here.

If a discussion is going so downhill that it needs to be locked while the team gets it together, that will be fine. And I do prefer deleting specific offending verbiage rather than an entire post. However, as mentioned - it's a time issue - and often moderators don't have the time to cherry pick. Sometimes I come back later and do that cherry picking - if and when I have the time. You may notice that; you may not. But I do it...

Ya i understand that, but with the millions upon millions if not BILLIONS you are making on advertisement you should have at least 100 mods :D.

You seem to be really fair Sal and I hope you take action on the baiters first over the people coming in and responding. Not saying anyone is right, but if I @ you a bunch of times saying this place sucks and xxyzzzstingers . com forums is better your going to come in and respond right.

I support the initiative but would also suggest when a clear chronic , divisive , provoking , negative member ( Troll ) is identified that they be warned and if they continue to contaminate the Forums they be terminated ............

We will but we usually discuss it with other mods first before action especially when they take a hit at us. The main point here is not to react to an insult and leave the work to us that way the fighting stops. Its hard i know to not defend ur honour so to speak but often defending ur honour does not squash the issue it only puts fuel on the fire. We welcome pms for advice if it gets to you , it also alerts us quicker to the issues so we can deal with them.

The problem with suddenly making billions, as I've now learned, is not knowing you can't land a fully-armored Eurocopter EC225 Super Puma Mk II+ on your yacht's helicopter deck. Live; learn...

In any event, I do want to address the baiters, who appear to be quite masterful in their actions. Perhaps they're master baiters. We'll need to keep our eyes on them, unfortunately. And we will address them accordingly. However, we could always use a little help fingering them. If you see something, say something (with the report button)...

You’re doing a good job. Like any community, there’s a few knuckleheads here (they know who they are), but things seem generally pretty civil.

Dear ol’ Mom – bless her soul - passed along a few rules for dealing with difficult people: 1) “Do unto others…” [Matthew 7:12]; 2) "Turn the other cheek” [Matthew 5:39], and 3) if that doesn’t work, ask ‘em to step outside. ;)
