Hi all,
Just installed a second hand JB4 with fuel wires on my 21 RWD Stinger GT. I swapped the plugs for HKS M45IL at the same time, currently running map 1 to start with. I'm in Australia and running BP 98RON - I *think* this is equivalent to 92/93 octane in the USA. No other mods except a catch can & k&n panel filters.
Still doing research on what to look for with the logs but noticed some timing corrections at WOT - question I have is how much is too much?
Also I noticed the traction control light flickering a fair bit - does the stinger pull timing to help regain traction? Or are the timing corrections purely based of fuel quality & boost?
I would like to try out map 2 but want to make sure everything looks alright before trying it out.
Can anyone take a look and tell me what they think before I switch to map 2?
Also are the standard map settings locked or should I be checking for changes made by the previous owner?
Thanks in advance,
Ted.

too much pulled timing tends to be above 3 and unless you are spinning every time you have the timing corrections then thats not the timing "problem". It looks solely to be based off boost and fuel quality. Not too knowledgeable on the 98RON but when i used shell 93 i had very little corrections if any even in map 3. AFRs look ok and you have plenty of room with your High pressure fuel pump and trim levels. If you are ever in need of a log review from the person who made the JB4 shoot terry@burgertuning.com an email with your logs and he could point you in the right direction. Just dont expect a paragraph explanation as he is a very busy person.

There are a few things going on here that you need to address.
It sounds like it's a used JB4, or whole car that had it in it?
1. First thing is to update the firmware, you are about 4 revisions down.
2. Put your PID Gain to 20, someone has zeroed it out.
3. Auto Shift redux is at 0, it should be 60

Last, right now you are pulling no timing at all, zero. That's a good thing. The default Ign for 2-6 are 2.3 until adaptives learn and start dropping. I'm guessing you just pulled the battery not long ago? Make the recommended changes, drive the car for a few more days then post another Map 1 log. :)

Should his boost safety be set at 28.4 :0

Thanks for the feedback, I did send the logs to BMS but yet to hear back - I imagine they would have a ton to look through so not expecting a response straight away.

I purchased the car new, the JB4 I bought used - the guy I bought it off was running it on a 4cyl stinger.
Correct - i disconected the battery when i changed the plugs and installed the JB4.
I will get the firmware updated and drive it for a few days and post another log.
How do I adjust the PID gain and auto shift redux? Is this in the user adjustment for map 6? when I open that all the values are blank, will they go to a default setting with the firmware update?
Sorry about all the questions - I'm usually playing with old cars with a distributor and carburettors.
Thanks,
Ted

You are saying he's not pulling any timing ? so what are you looking at to decide that? ign 2-6 shows 2.3 please explain.

Exactly 2.3 across the board. That's a factory ecu reset default. So, the car plays it safe basically. Those will eventually drop to 1.5, then .8, then 0.
So technically it is pulling timing but not by knock or predetination. If there was something deficient like octane you would see something, anything, in anyone of those cylinders above 2.3 but because it's steady during the whole pull, that tells me it's not pulling any timing. Does that make sense?

OK, so I've updated the jb4 to the latest firmware and changed the settings in the user adjustment as per AWDGT2's post.
Ign 2-6 have been dropping the last few days but looks to be making small corrections to #4 at times. Will likely try map 2 in the next couple of days but pretty happy with how map 1 performs

LOL, it's doing exactly what I predicted. Cy #4 at 1.5 for a split second is noting, it's .8 the rest. So they already went from 2.3, to 1.5, to .8. Another day or so you you should see all 0's unless your shy on octane. Your log looks really clean and I would say go for Map2
